This Winter

Untitled
I love to be home with my family. It has been an amazing opportunity.

But gall dang it, this winter might break us.

We haven't seen a winter like this in 30 years in Minnesota.

Thirty years.

Isaac is trying to convince me that it's "warm" out on days that he reads it's above zero on the news.

We've been avoiding all indoor play places, because somehow, somehow, I've decided that my sanity is worth our health. And really, I do think that is the right choice.

I'm so thankful that we do have the space of this house, because the boys are able to do races in the living room and when I'm really desperate, stuffed animal fights in their room.

I feel this blog's relevancy completely slipping through my fingers, as I've long said my ability to document and faithfully photograph was solidly embedded in the fact that I worked away from home. Now that I'm here, our days are so much the same and I forget so much when they're not.

Today my parenting was stellar and included such gems as "Ezra! Get up and get him back! Use two pillows this time."

We will survive. I think.

This winter really DOES blow. Just think of the glorious spring time (if such a thing exists) to get you through. And I love these pictures. Keep it up, mama.

I LOVE that you encourage counter-attacks! LOL.

Yes, this winter has been brutal. January felt like one long Monday. My kids and I have a countdown for spring established!

My boys made up a "zombie" game (it is seriously impossible to commute through Minneapolis on zombie pub crawl month without toddlers learning a thing or two) that involves playing tag in the house. But if you're the zombie that's chasing the others and someone throws a stuffed animal at you, you have to freeze for 5 (kid) seconds. And the zombie gets to hold a small ball that can be thrown to knock the stuffed animal out of another's hand. It's super complex, and completely created by Drew. The crazy thing is that Owen gets it. The crazier thing is that I've bothered to describe this. THE POINT IS: We are aaaaaaaaaaall experiencing the cabin fever.

Every day may seem the same, but the moments are always new.

I totally hear you. It's great being home but there's also the pressure to find fun activities when you can't go outdoors. I've gotten a ton of great ideas from pinterest :)
