Face Plant

Monday, January 6, 2014

You've all seen the videos of the awesome guy who tries to jump onto an already moving treadmill, right? It doesn't end well.

I've been trying to summarize what it feels like to be 6 days into the new year and over two weeks removed from corporate job and that's essentially it.

It's like I've been on the treadmill, maxed it out and then decided to pause to adjust my sock, fully expected to hop back on, but I've completely lost my stride.

The day after Christmas, we all got sick . . . but Miri ended up with RSV. It's been pretty interesting since. After a few nights of trying to treat Miri with the vaporizer and not much change, I text my friend Mandi to see what options I had for essential oils to treat her. I was floored when she was perking up, congestion clearing and coughing lessening within minutes of use.

It has been a little tricky with the awful weather as well. The boys are used to being able to play with friends if they're cooped up inside and I just don't fit the bill as much as they'd like!

I may be face planting now, but it doesn't mean I won't pick myself up and get into the right groove .

We just need a little time.

I made a similar transition this summer when I left my corporate job. The transition was rocky... and I totally didn't anticipate that. But once we got into a routine, things clicked. You will be there soon! And it'll be wonderful.

Bummer about RSV! What oil(s) did you end up using? Embrace change, even if the transition is rocky. It'll end well, He promises;-)

Oh Lordy all of us SAHM's are feeling like this! You really picked the week of all weeks to start out this new journey. If you can get through this then you are golden. ;)

You've got this, Leah!

By the end of the week you'll be able to be outside. It takes awhile to get in the groove, but once you're in it, you'll be golden :) Schedule and outing at least 3 times a week if you can, even if it's "just" story time at the library. Doesn't have to be anything that lasts a whole day. Just something to get out of the house :) Summer is a lot easier. I can help you fill up your summer schedule.

Transitions are so hard. I teach and whenever we go back from break, I feel a bit crazy for a while.

Things always level out and look better, especially when the kids are not sick!
