17 Weeks | Baby Sweets

Untitled

How far along: 17 weeks. [17 with Ezra17 with Isaac]

How big is baby: A sweet potato at 5 1/2 inches. My sweet baby's skeleton is hardening, changing from rubbery cartilage to bone, and fat is finally accumulating around it. The umbilical cord is getting thicker and stronger, and those little fingers and toes are now topped by one-of-a-kind prints from waving around through the amniotic fluid.

Weight gain/loss: So much for a steady 1 pound weight gain. There was a fair amount of emotional eating in the past 5 days, and I've definitely gained a total of 5 lbs.

Stretch marks: After two pregnancies, I somehow still don't have any.

Sleep: Thankfully, other than the sleepless night I had after the election results last night, sleep has been decent the last week.

Diet/Cravings/Aversions: Yeah, so, emotional eating. See above. It wasn't pretty and I still don't feel quite right, but I'm trying to balance everything out and get back to my good eating habits. I did break into a jar of Claussen pickles and oh my word. They are heaven. The only problem is that instead of eating just one or two slices, I want to eat 5, or 10.

Movement: Almost daily flutters, but still nothing certain or more frequent.

What I'm worrying about: The future of our country, but that's a little heavy.

What I'm loving: Being pregnant.

Symptoms: So I mentioned last week that my boobs finally got with the pregnancy program and were giving me some lift. Geez louise, they can lay off now! They hurt something awful!

What I'm looking forward to: Aside from Tony's reffing schedule, I have a completely free weekend! I'm sure I'll spend at least the majority of one day working on sessions to get the remaining 12 out, but still, I'll have the time to do it!

Best moment of the week: Unfortunately, so far there really hasn't been one. This week has been filled with daily frustrations, but I haven't given up hope that there will be good! The highlight of my week was being surrounded by amazing girlfriends. For the majority of my life I didn't think that I would ever have close girlfriends who would stand by me when I needed them. I got to spend facetime with Gina while I was disappointed to find out my sweater wasn't available, when I'd been told it was. She did everything in her power to try to keep me in a good mood and suggested numerous other options, followed by a birthday lunch with my dear friend Abbey, Emily willing to go grocery shopping with me just to get some gab time in, Heidi bringing over blizzards while I was having a rough evening and Ashley locating the virtually unavailable sweater I decided on for our gender reveal. You are all amazing.

I just started reading your blog and I love your thoughts and reflections. What I want to know is how are you so tiny? I am pregnant with my 2nd and by 17 weeks I was huge and in maternity clothes.

It's okay. Go ahead and eat those pickles. They count as a vegetable, right?

You look awesome!! Don't worry about the country, God's got it under control, I hope.... I too lost sleep last night over it, but alas there is nothing more we can do than hope and pray. :-)

I really felt like I could cry after the results last night. I am just scared for our kids' futures. For real.

On a lighter note, you look amazing and like you're glowing. I'm so happy for you that you have no plans this weekend! I mentioned you yesterday in my post, referencing how I have no idea how you shot ALL SUMMER LONG every weekend! This is my first weekend off (from 2nd shooting weddings) for the last 5 weeks, and I'm super thrilled about it.

Whew - longest most irrelevant comment ever.

You look great! Can't believe you're still so small. I hear you about the election. I went to bed early and woke up at 3 am to check my phone. Couldn't get back to sleep for hours.

I am a long time reader but barely post. You are such an adorable pregnant mama! I was so excited to see you were expecting #3 because dh and I are expecting #1 and our due date is only a month after yours! 5/18/2013! I was so excited to see that 1 of my favorite bloggers was expecting right around the same time as we are. Anyways, I can't wait to see how you do the gender reveal! We get to find out the gender of this babe on December 17th and are planning a whole gender reveal party for family. Everyone is so excited! Okay now that I have written you a book..haha. Can't wait to read more about your pregnancy! =-)

Oh love. It's easy being your friend. I'm grateful for you in my life and that we still find ways (even if it is grocery shopping!) to stay in touch! Much love.
