A Special Date

Tuesday, July 10, 2012

Over the last few weeks, I started talking to Isaac about going on a date with me. Some of the things I mentioned to pique his interest were that it'd just be the two of us and that'd we get special food.

I wasn't certain where or when our date would take place, but it quickly shaped up Sunday morning after my family session wrapped up. With an  hour to kill before church, I called Tony as I was returning home to ask him to get Isaac ready for our date.

Unfortunately, just in between that phone call ending and my returning home to take him to Panera, he ended up taking his second digger into the footboard of our bed while not listening to Tony. Poor little guy is quite the bruiser.

It definitely seemed like the crash had an effect on his mood, as he was quite Jekyll and Hyde about our date. One minute he was telling me how much he loved it and the next he was completely sullen.
On a Panera date with my bud. Unfortunately. He's a little Jekyll/Hyde about it though.

I just went along the rollercoaster with him and thankfully as we were packing up to come home, he tipped back to loving our date.
Love this boy. #latergram

It was great to spend some uninterrupted time with my bud and I love even more that he's talking about our next date . . . at mini golf.

While it might be a little challenging, I think these moments with your boy, alone... are just precious. Some day, he will remember this and love you more because of it!

What fun and what sweet pictures!

Owiee...poor guy :(

Henry and I have been on one date; just us and we loved it. It lets me soak in every ounce of his toddler being...uninterupted. It's really quite lovely.

Uufff - Poor little man! So sweet that you take him on little Mommy/Son dates. I need to do that more often with my kiddos...I cherish that one on one time.

I'm so glad that he decided he liked it and can't wait for the next one. I tried it a couple weeks ago with our son (he was getting a little jealous of my time with baby sister) and it didn't work out so well.

This is absolutely adorable. I am totally psyched to do this with my little guy when he gets older too!

I really wish I was better at managing my time, like you seem to do so well.

I need to do this with Jax, asap.
