It would start as a little whimper through the monitor, but before long we'd hear "Mama! Daddy! Anybody" in only the long stretched out way that a toddler is capable of whining.
Sunday night, he once again woke in such a way, but settled back down after Tony went down to him. Not twenty minutes later, he was again awake, but escalated to a screaming cry within seconds. He was full on crying for his Daddy and I joked with Tony as he went down to Isaac, "Jeez, what did you do?" knowing full well he hadn't done anything or even forgotten to do anything.
I had to chuckle over what I heard through the monitor, but over time it's gotten less funny.
Isaac through a panicky cry wailed to Tony "You left me at church! You left me at church, Daddy!"
Tony tried to reason with him, as it was apparent he'd had a nightmare, that he didn't leave him at church, otherwise they wouldn't be standing in Isaac's room together.
Isaac continued though, "Yes, you did Daddy! You got in the car and you left me at church!"
It took a few minutes to settle him down, but he eventually returned to sleep.
My poor little guy, already having nightmares. What would Freud think?
Dreams are often most profound when they seem the most crazy. Sigmund Freud
