Isaac + hose = one sided water fight

Wednesday, June 8, 2011

Last thursday night, Tony and I were busy, we had errands to run, food to prep and suitcases to pack. So for the first time, as I lumbered into the house to begin dinner and Tony went down to the basement, I let Isaac stay outside. The boy lives for the moment he's allowed to run free outside and it just wasn't worth the fight to bring him inside, even though neither Tony or I were with him. As I prepped the chicken for grilling, I could watch Isaac out the window and I thought to myself, "Boy, this is working well."

And then Isaac found a new toy. The hose with spray nozzle attached.

You see, Isaac had been helping Tony in the backyard the night before and prior to their entering the house Tony had sprayed down both of their feet with the hose.

You know where this is going, Isaac wanted to do it again, but by himself.

And I let him, which is hands down one of my best decisions of late.

Because first this happened.

But before we knew it, Isaac was intentionally spraying me and had Tony and I taking shelter behind a tree! [Stupid flickr is having an issue with my favorite video, but this one is still pretty sweet too!]

The kid definitely understood he had the upper hand!

He even appears slightly maniacal, but his laugh was just shaking him!

Early on he hit the dirt so hard with the water mud sprayed up on his forehead, which I think is hilarious!

I knew when to retreat, but Tony just kept at it!

My favorite shot!

Isaac had an absolute blast and Tony and I haven't laughed that hard, in well, probably months! So if you haven't allowed your toddler access to your spray hose, I give it two enthusiastic thumbs up for family fun!

No cameras were harmed in the making of these films/photos.

Those videos are seriously so cute! I love boys and their ways... so cute!

Now, is that the only thing he wants to do when he goes outside now?

Hehe, but of course Jill! Just yesterday he ran to pick it up, got a devilish grin on his face and took aim at Tony, but Tony stood his ground knowing that the water wasn't on this time lol.

So cute!!! Loved the videos. I might have even gotten a view of the other one you posted since it randomly showed up on my reader. Hilarious! Annie and the neighbor girls love the hose too, but don't have the strength yet to actually push the button on their own - thankfully :)
