Excitement!

I can't remember the first time that I attended a Just Between Friends sale, but I think that it was as a pregnant mama, right before Isaac made his arrival. For those of you unfamiliar, it's a very well organized consignment sale, with the opportunity to receive presale passes if you volunteer. Never one to turn down a good bargain, that's just what I did 1 1/2 weeks ago and I then got to cash in on my presale pass by shopping up a storm! I even was recognized by a blog friend, Lynn, who by the way needs to continue blogging! ;)

And when I say I shopped up a storm, I believe I did some significant damage.

In the end I purchased 23 items, not including the contents of multiples in packages like 3 pack of towels, 2 receiving blankets, 6 trumpette socks, for a total of $77.38 or an average of $3.36 per item.

It was always so funny to me, but growing up [and even now], my Mom tried ridiculously hard to be as fair as possible in equally distributing funds. And when I say ridiculously hard, she would try to be within pennies of her spending between my brothers and I. With this shopping trip, while I wasn't minding my cents between the two, I'm really happy to realize that I found at the end of the trip I'd spent almost equally on my two boys. A few of my favorite purchases were a 4T GAP seersucker blazer for $5, a package of Trumpette "shoe" socks for $1 [right next to another package for $10], an FAO plush animal stack for $3.50 and Isaac's remote control CAT loader for $5.

Truly the pièce de résistance is this $2 masterpiece.

Drumroll please . . . . . . . .

Isaac is potty training!

We arrived here kind of haphazardly, because even as I called to report my steals to Tony last Wednesday, his response to the training seat was "So we're doing that, huh?" I laughed of course, because yes, at some point we were going to start potty training Isaac, but I was by no means declaring the beginning just 3 weeks before welcoming a new baby into our home. I just thought at $2, it was too good of a deal to pass up!

Isaac however had other ideas. As soon as I laid my bag of goodies on the floor, Isaac promptly picked up the seat, walked it to the bathroom and demanded that he go potty on the toilet. I kid you not.

And he did.

And he has continued to do so, obviously not without wet diapers in between, but consistently, every day.

And yesterday, are you ready for this?!

Just one week in and he went poop on the toilet! Tony and I just can't believe how well Isaac's taken to it, but are a little concerned for regression when Baby Love arrives.

I'm totally daydreaming about only having one child in diapers . . .

Boo-ya, Isaac!! That's awesome and even if there is a bit of regression, big deal...what he's doing now is a huge accomplishment :)

I attended the JBF consignment sale this year too and got a boatload of stuff. It's definitley going on my "must do" list every year. You can't beat it ;) [Although I selfishly reserve my volunteer time for mama clothes consignment sales! :)]

Eeek - now I feel famous ;) Thanks for the encouragement! Hope to have a new post up soon!

Glad you found some good things at the sale - me too. I definitely think the presale is the way to go.

That's awesome re: potty training! I have heard when they're ready, they just go for it. This is definitely a good sign, I would say.

Super exciting about him being interested in potty training! My 20m/o nephew is starting potty training and doing GREAT. I am pretty sure he has only had one accident all week. Great news since my SIL is due with #3 in September!! :)

What a great haul!! I went to ours this year, too, for the first time, and made out like a bandit. Also got a potty seat like that at ours - of course, Henry likes to sit on it once in awhile but hasn't done anything yet, but he's well on his way! That's awesome about Isaac, way to go, little dude!!

I love trumpette socks. I think that's one of the few baby items I paid full price for and they were totally worth it. They actually stay on!
Yay for potty training. Even if it eliminates a diaper or two a day, it's totally worth it.

That's great!!! There are two consignment shops here that I take Rowan's old clothes to and get credit. I always find such cute "new" stuff to get her.

I also totally hear you about one in diapers. I told Scott I don't even want to get preggers again until Rowan is interested in the potty!
