28w1d - Third Tri

Monday, April 11, 2011

And well, I guess, the countdown is on. I hit third tri this week and am now looking at 12 weeks until my due date, not to be confused with 3 months out which was on April 3rd. Ahh, keeping track of pregnancy is so much fun.

Here's Baby Love's progression at 28w1d vs 28 with Isaac.

And clothed.
AE cardi, ON top, ON jeans.

From my weekly email: By this week, your baby weighs two and a quarter pounds (like a Chinese cabbage) and measures 14.8 inches from the top of her head to his heels. He can open and close his eyes, which now sport lashes. This movement is more of a reflexive blink than a deliberate opening and closing, but it won't be long before he's batting those beauties at you.

How far along?: 28w1d
How big is baby?: The size of a Chinese cabbag, 15 inches with legs extended.
Weight gain/loss?: 18 lbs.
Stretch marks?: None, thankfully.
Maternity clothes?: Yes please.
Sleep?: Has completely sucked.
Food cravings?: Anything fresh! Bring on grill season.
Gender?: We're having another son!
Movement?: Consistent and all over the place! I can't tell his positioning, but I think that Baby Love is transverse, just like his brother was.
Belly button?: More and more shallow every day.
What are you looking forward to this week?: Isaac's birthday, hopefully it will all come together!

Notables: I read back through my third trimester posts with Isaac yesterday and it brought a flood of emotions. Mainly though, I don't remember having as many complaints as I wrote about and I think I've just been coasting for the last few weeks. It seemed to all of the sudden hit me again yesterday that I'm bringing another person into the world. Someone who is not a near replica of Isaac, or even an offshoot, but entirely unique. For some reason this didn't scare me when nearing the end of my pregnancy with Isaac, but now that I know the stakes it seems much more intimidating this time.

On lighter notes, I have my glucose test on Friday, which also means that I get to see my MW. I'm looking forward to seeing her! It's also my 2nd to the last 4 week appointment, with my next at 32w and every other week, until the weekly appointments begin at 36w. That's craziness.

Additional fluff, I thought that I wouldn't have a linea negra this go round since it first appeared at 23w with Isaac. I just noticed yesterday that while I don't have a complete line, I do have one from my belly button down. It's just so odd how our bodies operate!

Leah - I miss you so! I don't think you had a bump at all last time I saw you! Come visit me in Iowa...we live 4 blocks from the hospital...just in case you need it.

You are beautiful.

Leah, you look great! You are right about our bodies. I had a bad linea negra with Juan, but not a single thing with Joaquin. Can't wait for more pictures!

whoop whoop we've made it to the 3rd tri!! Um, where did the time go? I'm starting to really get excited though, despite the crappy sleep and general discomfort. You are adorable as always :)
