Get ready for the next post about our weekend! We had such a phenomenal one, it'll be really fun to recap.
Not much in baby news this week. 23w1d with Baby Love vs 23w with Isaac.
MM top, purchased at Macy's, ON cardi, H&M belt, ON maternity jeans.
From my weekly email: Turn on the radio and sway to the music. With her sense of movement well developed by now, your baby can feel you dance. And now that she's more than 11 inches long and weighs just over a pound about as much as a large mango, you may be able to see her squirm underneath your clothes. Blood vessels in her lungs are developing to prepare for breathing, and the sounds that your baby's increasingly keen ears pick up are preparing her for entry into the outside world. Loud noises that become familiar now — such as your dog barking or the roar of the vacuum cleaner — probably won't faze her when she hears them outside the womb.
How far along?: 23w1d
How big is baby?: The size of a papaya [for the next month], 11+ inches.
Weight gain/loss?: 13lbs.
Stretch marks?: None, thankfully.
Maternity clothes?: Pants yes. Only 1 pair of pre-pregnancy jeans still fit.
Sleep?: Better now that we bought a humidifier.
Food cravings?: Turkey burger and salad bar at Ruby Tuesday!
Gender?: Mud and bandaids are in my future.
Movement?: A little stronger every day.
Belly button?: Aside from the damage inflicted by Isaac, unchanged.
What are you looking forward to this week?: Hopefully seeing Tony in some big high school games!
Notables: I ended up talking to Tony about my concerns with being unable to distinguish Baby Love from Isaac and how I thought naming Baby Love before he is born might help me out. Our conversation went like this:
Tony: Okay, well then what would you name the baby today?
Me: I've told you this a million times! Modano Mike LastName*
Tony: There it is then, Modano Mike.
Me: But what about ______? Are you warming up to it? And what about this one too?
So we were this close to having the baby named and I blew it.
*For the record, Modano Mike is not in consideration, but is now sort of an inside joke between Tony and I.
I'm not going to write a separate post for these thoughts even though I've come back into this post to add these a day after this post has been published, because they're basically only for me. In reviewing my posts when pregnant with Isaac, I don't think I provided enough detail, so now the exact information is a little fuzzy to me.
My starting weight with Isaac was 137.5 lbs. As a petite 5'4", muscular built woman, my "ideal" weight [note, not by my standards, but by the charts] is 115-120lbs. I have not been close to this number in at least a decade. I am more than fine with this. I gained just under 30lbs with Isaac and hovered just under seeing 170lbs hit the scale.
With Baby Bless I started out at 140.6lb, according to our non accurate battery dying home scale. Because I tracked my weight gain with Isaac, I am able to know that at precisely the same date in my pregnancy with Isaac I had gained 16 lbs at 23w.
In the past 2 months I haven't taken notice of my weight, because both Tony and I were so skeptical of the accuracy of our home scale. By estimation I figured that I probably gained 8lbs when weighed at my 20w appointment 3 weeks ago. As I wrote about previously, I really wanted to get back on the ball eating really healthy and I knew the best way to motivate myself was to have a properly working scale. Please don't get me wrong, I am in NO WAY dieting. I know that a healthy weight gain is a steady weight gain and there is room to self correct, even while pregnant. So we got new batteries to put in the scale and I am happy to say that I have gained 13lbs.
