The Bestest Little Helper

Wednesday, December 1, 2010

On Saturday, Tony and I tackled our house. For whatever reason, I swear it wasn't my nagging, Tony decided to finish up half a dozen small projects around the house and I loved every minute of it. For the most part my plan was to edit my last wedding all day and at some point get to my Christmas decorating.

Isaac was still battling his cold and seemed to be a little clingy, so when he fell asleep on me I debated for a long time whether I should keep him cuddled up with me or put him down so that I could decorate in peace.

For those of you with small children, especially rowdy boys, you know that when you finally have that small warm body snuggled next to your's you are basically rendered useless.

Isaac slept in my arms for the next hour and then some as I edited photos.

When he woke up, I figured it was then or not that day to set up the tree. I was obviously nervous to have Isaac "help" me, as I anticipated a lot of frustrating moments between mother and son.

Such was not the case. I have never had such a great little helper. As we assembled our fake tree, Isaac would grab me branches out of the box. I would ask him for a color and show the branch colors as we went. While he had no clue which color was which, he did seem to atleast understand there was a reason why I wanted a different branch.

Putting the tree together with my son is my absolute most favorite Christmas moment, until further notice. There are no words to convey how sweet it was, especially his cute way of saying "tree."

After the tree was in place, Isaac also helped me with the ornaments. For a little bit. :) After two or three he was more interested in playing with them than hanging them, so he had to be corralled a bit.

Love this child more than words can convey.

what a sweet moment for you two! Isaac is a little older than Jack, so maybe it isnt the same for you, but while last Christmas was amazing for the whole 'first family Christmas' aspect, this one seems more special because he is starting to be awed the wonder of it all.

Oh yes...I have vowed recently to let sleeping babies (on me) lie. Naps are seriously the ONLY time I get snuggles from my busy girl, so the dishes be damned!

What a sweet moment of putting the tree together! LOVE it!

How adorable. Yes, it is a fun moment.

I'm hoping to get the tree out before this weekend. Unfortunately, we're on round 2 of the stomach flu with BOTH boys. Ugh.

But all the pretty trees popping up in the blogosphere are good inspiration.

What a sweet, sweet post, Leah. Such a special time with your boy!

Also, I'm completely jealous that he will fall asleep in your arms. Henry will not fall asleep anywhere except his crib or car seat - most definitely not on me anymore! I'd love it SO much if he'd do that for me. ;)

What an amazing and sweet time. Unfortunately we decided to put up our tree too late at night and Jax missed it this year. But he did wake up to it, and was in complete awe. Love their innocence!
