This picture says a lot. It was also taken almost 4 months ago, but I never was able to share it. I wanted to share it, I just couldn't it. It was supposed to be a proclamation. A fun little guessing game. Let me catch you guys up to speed now that Tony is without a job and the information does not put us in any jeopardy.
In a knee-jerk reaction to Tony's salary being stripped, he started researching avenues that would allow him to be his own boss: self-employment. He spoke with several friends to gauge their interest, attended a few fairs and seminars and looked into a few different franchises before finding a listing on craigslist. This listing was for an established lawn care and snow removal company and included financing options.
Tony began conversations with the owner and operations manager and before long enticed a former college buddy to leave his family's business in Illinois and return to Minnesota. There have been a plethora of problems, including different lenders . . . but it pains me to say this, it appears things may actually be progressing. I'm a bit jaded though you see, as there have been at least 5 different closing dates. That's so embarassing to admit, but we're at a point now where we either see it through to completion or we will be suing the primary share owner for breach of contract. We'd much rather the first option.
So there you have it. Tony will not be looking for a new job, he is pursuing purchasing a new job (and will hopefully start working for one of the companies this week, as the sale finalizes *fingers crossed* money will be coming in). I wanted so badly to post the above picture with joyful news, but at least now it's out in the open.

Praying for you guys...
I'm praying for you guys Leah. It sounds like a great opportunity.
What a great option to go the self-employed route! It's hard to be the boss sometimes, but it also allows for so many blessings, like dad being able to come to a kid's baseball/hockey/football games without issue.
I hope that everything is finalized soon :)
Praying things come together very soon!
best of luck!
Good luck. I pray everything goes smoothly and you are soon business owners.
Praying for everything to go smoothly. Being self-employed opens up a LOT of opportunities, and can be a very, very wonderful thing.
Super cute picture too! :)
You'll have to post more info on it once everything develops. The contract for our townhouse association's lawn/snow removal service is up in October, so I'm sure we'll be looking for bids.
Praying that everything comes together, Leah!
Hope it all works out! My last job was working just with small businesses and it was always interesting (the clients were my favorite part of my job). If ya'll need any assistance check out your local Small Business Development Center (usually affiliated with a college or university nearby). They provide free advising and low cost training to small businesses. Good luck with it all!
Good luck with things, I'll be praying for you guys. Owning your own business has lots of perks but definitely requires a lot of faith and hard work. I'm quite convinced that you guys are cut out for the job! Hang in there!
how awesome Leah! Self employment is so empowering. It's hard, we certainly have our good and bad months but it's so rewarding!
I'll be praying for you guys and a speedy closing!
great! I can't wait to hear more good news! :o)
What a great opportunity, can't wait to hear how God works all the little details out for you!
What a blessing that would be to be self-employed!!!! I know that is Jared's dream for himself. I hope everything workouts for you guys!
Being self-employed is both stressful and joyous - I wish you more of the latter :) And congrats to him on his new venture!
That is a blessing. About 3 weeks after I got married last year, my husband lost his job of 13 years. I immediately hit panic. God is good and he was blessed 3 weeks after losing his job with another that he enjoys. Sounds like your husband has found something that he will enjoy and provide for his family. Congrats on the venture.
Can you tell me something about Wedded Wednesday? Is there a topic of discussion each Wednesday? How do you take part?
Don't be embarrassed AT ALL! It seems like you have made a great decision for your family. I think it sounds like a great opportunity!
Best of luck to your family. I can't wait to hear how it all turns out.
so many emotions! excitement and fear being the top ones! i will be praying!!
Good luck to you and Tony on this! A friend of mine and her husband own Twin City Outdoor Services and they have been hugely successful! He actually started out doing landscaping, but found the money was with snow removal. They recently ran an article about him and his company in the StarTrib Business section. You should check it out. www.tcossnow.com
Good luck to you both. Hope it all works out for you.
Ha, goes to show I should read OLDER posts first. I'm hoping and praying that this works out. I've been thinking about this opportunity and wondering if it had taken off, I can't believe they are being so ridiculous! So sorry!
