So here's my little diddy on where I am at 6 months post partum.
In an effort to continue breast feeding until my goal of 6 months, I completely eliminated running or "dieting" at four months pp. That being said, I'm probably ridiculously proud of the fact that I completed a 10 mile race just 3 months after Isaac's birth. At the time, I thought I was well on the way to training for completing at least half of the Twin Cities Marathon. That dream was not to be realized, as I made the barely decision to do what was best for Isaac in buoying my supply and nixed running.
At this present time I am still probably 13 lbs up from where I regularly resided on the scale prepregnancy. You don't have to wonder where it's at either, I can definitely tell you the not so hiding spots are my milk makers, thighs, patoot and a little can still be found in my stomach.
I'm still not running, but I've taken advantage of my time to pump. I can no longer last the full 30 minutes, so I break them up into 3 10-minute increments. I now pump for 10 minutes, followed by 10 minutes of push-ups {mix of real and girl}, tricep dips and then alternate ab/leg days, finishing with another 10 minutes of pumping. I do this 3 times a day.
Isaac reaching 6 months does make me happy in many ways, but especially because I've reached my goal to nurse! Now that this goal has been surpassed, I'm thankful daily for the opportunity to continue on. I'm not sure when we'll stop and I'll try to gracefully deflect nagging questions as to when we will. I said, try, no promises. :)
I can't say that I'm thrilled with where I'm at physically, but in all honesty, my body is amazing. To go from a woman's body to a mother's body is a transition that I would accept any day. The realization that I may not turn heads, but I can birth a child with some rebound and sustain him is incredible. I've always been able to push my body to new extremes, accomplishing these feats has brought me satisfaction and yet I never expected it would be having a child that would allow me to know it's full capability. God's design never fails.

You look beautiful Leah.
I think you look amazing. and so does the wellness room ;)
Good Job Leah! 6 months is great. and p.s. you look WONDERFUL! and cute boots.
You should be so proud, of All that you have accomplished. First you look amazing( without running or dieting)and you have managed to give Isaac the best all he can eat for 6+ months. I noticed you still have your linea nigra, as do I. I am wondering does this stick around until after breastfeeding is over.
you're hot lady!
and love those boots, where they from?
Beautiful...and such inspiration :)
PS: I agree...the boots are super cute!
You look amazing, Leah. You sincerely do.
First of all, I'd kill for some junk in my trunk. Second, your stomach looks phenomenal. Because it doesn't look like I'll gain much through this pregnancy due to being so sick at the beginning, I don't think it will take long for me to get back to my pre-preg weight. However, I know my stomach will never look good. It didn't look good before getting pregnant, so I know there's no hope after. I'm jealous of your flat tummy.
I love that you are walking away from pregnancy being amazed at your body's abilities. I truly hope I can say the same after this.
And those boots rock.
I think you look great. I've been working out hard and my milk supply hasn't diminished at all, and I am so thankful! Keep up the good work!
You look great Leah! And I love you attitude.
...I also really like your boots! Super cute :)
Leah you look gorgeous don't ever doubt that for a second!
You look amazing!!! Really you do :).
I don't even look that great and I haven't had a baby. Not that I should even compare but you seriously look awesome! I'm so jealous but CLEARLY your body was okay with being pregnant and you've got some great motivation to get it back into shape. I'm still amazed. 10 miles 3 months following a birth! Who can say that they've EVER done that? It's amazing and you should be SO proud!!! I know many people that don't look this good and it's been 1 year or more since their child was born! You are doing great and I'm envious!
That, and like everyone else, your boots are FANTASTIC!!!!!!! I think after all the attention that they've had on this post/comments they deserve their own post!!
You look fabulous!!! And I too, love the boots.
Leah, you should be proud of yourself. You look awesome!!! I can only hope I look nearly that great when I'm six months pp.
You ran 10 miles three months after giving birth? Many people (including myself) can't do that without even having ever given birth, so you SHOULD be ridiculously proud.
Also I bet you still turn heads. You look fantastic! And your family is beautiful.
You look wonderful. I seriously can't get over what my body did in childbirth...it has become a reoccuring obsession in my thoughts lately. How did I do that?!
I think you look amazing!!
Um, Leah, your body is awesome. I wish I could look like that!
So do you MISS running? I can't help but ask. This is the part of post-partum that probably scares me the most. I miss it so much right now and it has only been a few weeks that I haven't been able to actually 'run' due to out of control need to pee:)
And also, I think it's awesome you have such a great attitude about your body's abilities....it's pretty cool to think about how we are made, isn't it?
Leah, you seriously look amazing! I held onto 10-15 pounds after having Juan and was told by other moms it was because I was breastfeeding and I wouldn't lose it until I stopped. So don't fret my dear!
Those 13 pounds must be well-hidden, because you look amazing! Thanks for the honest update :-)
Leah, you look great!! Thank you so much for being so honest in your blog about the joys and realities of motherhood.
Lookin' good, hot mama!
You look incredible! And I can't believe people would ask you when you're going to stop b'feeding your INFANT. Gah.
I love that you took the pics at work. And of course you still look amazing :)
You look GREAT. You're doing a fantastic job! ...and cute boots. :)
You look amazing mama!!! Super cute outfit too!!!
Everyone says to give yourself 9 months to get back to PP size, and now that my baby is almost 9 months old... sigh, well, you can just imagine how jealous I am of your skinny and oh-so-cute bod! You are beautiful on the inside and out! And I love your outfit :)
Leah, you are beautiful and adorable. I think you look fantastic (and CUTE outfit! Can I have your boots?). My mom, who also reads your blog, commented on how impressed she was at how unselfish you have already learned to be as a mother-- you have done what's best for Isaac and made sacrifices to do that. Good Mom Award. :)
I think you look fabulous and beautiful as always.
You go girl! I too gave up exercise and diet to make sure I made it to the 6 month mark. Almost there thanks to the help of your lactation cookie recipe. YUM! I still have about 10 pounds to go and if I don't get there I think I'm okay with it. I am going to miss the breastfeeding bond when I dry up! Are you still plentiful?
you look great!!! and great job for reaching your goal!
first of all...where are you? =)
second...you look great and I can NOT imagine where in the world you would remove 13 lbs from your body!
You look awesome!
And I am wondering where your love handles are??? Clearly they forgot to make an appearance in this picture!
oh wait, that would be MY body! grr.....
I agree with miss, 13lbs?! really!? I don't see it!
You look amazing girl!!!
You look fantastic and I am loving those boots!!!
love the boots!
You have much to be proud of! Way to stick to the breastfeeding! :) I too, have surpassed my goal of 3 months, and now I think I am just going to let things run their course.
Oh, and 13 lbs? Where??
I think you look absolutely ROCKIN!
And yes, I also love those boots.
You look fabulous. Seriously, you're like my post-pregnancy hero! ;)
You look incredible Leah, absolutely incredible. 13 pounds do not show anywhere!
Congratulations on making it to six months with nursing, as amazing as your fitness is already, I'm sure it will only get better as Isaac gets older. You really do look amazing.
