Where I'm at

Monday, October 5, 2009

We had a pretty laid back weekend and I couldn't have been happier! Unfortunately it should have been a bit busier, but all in all it shaped up pretty well.

Sadly two events just didn't come to pass.
1). Meeting my girl Sarah, who never fails to crack me up or offer a sage quote. :( I'm pretty sure I dropped the ball on this one and it bums me out.

2). Running any distance in the TCM. Remember back in the spring, before Isaac when I was on crack and thought I could take on the Twin Cities Marathon? Yeah, that was way back before Isaac and I was on crack. Enough said, and yet I need to explain why I failed anyways:
    • I'm sick
    • Isaac's sick
    • Isaac no longer sleeps through the night, which means I'm almost more sleep deprived now than I was when he was 2 months old
    • I quit running over a month ago to try to salvage my supply
    • Even without all of the those factors, I think going that long without pumping or nursing would finally be the nail in the coffin of my breast feeding days.
And those are my pretty stellar reasons for not running a foot in my first marathon, even though Kierstan, Nancy, Maddie and I did! Kier finished her first marathon and Nancy qualified for Boston because she's crazy psycho. :) Up until Isaac stopped sleeping, Tony and I were still planning on running at least half . . . and then Isaac stopped sleeping and I got sick and then he got sick and that was that. :(

It's funny how pre-greatest-baby-in-the-world, all I thought about were the logistics of a baby. Like in planning for the TCM, I thought we'd be good to go because I could schedule my training and had my Mom booked to be our baby-sitter . . . not even taking into consideration anything regarding sleep or my boobs lol, let alone my desire to be with the little man!

So that's what should have been included in our weekend, but instead we went to a HH with my work Friday night {Isaac's first bar of the weekend (okay fine, it's a nice restaurant)} and then I came home to clean. Saturday Tony got up and made us breakfast in bed {2nd time making eggs and he's already showing great improvement}, I cleaned some more, we watched the Gopher's defeat and then we went to join some friends for my friend's Dad's band playing at Isaac's 2nd bar of the weekend {I never said I was classy}. We then came home to watch the Twins play and WIN, before the Wild game. Tony then went to a movie with the aforementioned friends, while I went grocery shopping with our chunker dunk {and got yelled at in the parking lot by a crazy lady}. Yesterday we went to church, again watched the Twins WIN {forcing a playoff game with Detroit on Tuesday} and the farewell to the Metrodome, before Gina came over for a quick visit, ending with dinner at my Dad's . . . because my Stepbrother is in town from Indiana for the biggest Viking's game ever! For those of you who don't know Brett Favre, now sporting purple, will be playing the Packer's tonight on Monday Night Football.

On that note, I'll leave you with some fabulous shots G took of our littlest Vikings fan {even though I'm not quite ready to put him in a #4 :)}

I LOVE him in that outfit!! So cute!

And girl, I totally thought you were on crack! But sorry it didn't work out to run TCM :(

Despite the...ahem...Vikings gear, he's still adorable :).

Glad you had a good relaxing weekend - marathons are overrated anyway, right?

I can't think of better reasons for not running. Putting your babe first is never a bad thing.

And I love that outfit.

Don't worry about the marathon. Baby or no baby..that's one hefty feat to accomplish!

I'm dying to know what MN is talking about today. Apparently the only news in WI is the game tonight. Yikes! (But still...go Pack, go!!)

Cute, cute pics. Not everybody looks that good in bright purple. ;) Bummer about the marathon plans coming to naught... but you have years of running and potential marathons ahead of you!

Love love the Vikings outfit, even though I am a Colts fan. Isaac is such a cutie pie!

Don't get too hung up on the marathon, there will be many more to come, and right now, taking care of Issac could suffice for a marathon, right?

what a cutie! His outfit is totally adorable, although our kids will be in purple, white and black for the ravens. I've been thoroughly enjoying watching the twins and tigers try to beat each other out, the knockout game is going to be incredible! As far as running, I have a feeling you'll look back and not regret it one bit. This time will fly and before you know it, he'll be bigger and more independent and you'll wish he still needed you to the point of you not being able to run. And why is everyone sick? I have been dyyyying for the past two weeks now and it's only the beginning of October! I really hope this isn't some sort of sign as to what the rest of the season will be like. Lots of prayers being prayed for you!

aw man, that stinks you couldn't to the marathon or half but you know what? there are many more running years ahead of you and I'm glad you weren't a crazy psycho who forced herself to do something she really couldn't. Nate was talking about a full next October already (Chicago next weekend, baby) and I flat out told him I HIGHLY doubt I'll be up for it so soon after March. But maybe a half...

Also, do NOT put your cute little man in that hideous #4. I really don't care about the purple (although Nate would shudder) but if you came to be a Favre fan on top of it all Nate might ban me from you:) It's going to be an intense night at our hose tonight for sure!

Love the new pics!!

Leah it's ok, there will be plenty of marathons your priority should be sleep whenever you can get it.

Marathons happen every year, but time spent with those chunky cheeks is short.

(He is just ADORABLE.)

Hope you start feeling better soon, love!! Please, don't feel bad that you're not running the marathon. You've done so much more than most post-preggo women ever do- you are amazing. And, marathons happen all the time. Time with the little heartbreaker doesn't. :)

Definitely don't discouraged on the whole marathon thing. You have done so much more than anyone I know post-baby, including myself! You are an inspiration to many.

Love the little man in purple... and I don't blame ya for not being ready for putting him in a #4, I was shocked at the number of ppl in them at the game!

I know, I had running all planned out as well and boom! Also, Gooner is sleeping less as well, WHAT HAPPENED!? She used to wake us up once a night and now, geez, it's like every 2 hours. I have to wake up at 4; it is killing me! So is the size of my butt! Grrrrrr.

I know I haven't commented much lately, but I've been following along. I can't believe how big (and so cute!) Isaac is. He looks like such a big boy in that adorable sweater vest at the wedding below! I hope you both start getting some rest soon.
