You know you're married when . . .

Tuesday, June 23, 2009

I love my husband more than anyone, but when it comes to style . . . he fails big time. Now I'm not saying I've got mine down or anything for that matter, if you know me IRL you know that I default to navy way too much . . . But if you will, please take a gander at the following photos.

My hubby loves to wear work t-shirts as acceptable wear-around clothing, especially if he no longer works for the company that he is promoting {bonus points!}. It kills me to no end that he wanted to plan on wearing something nice when we went to the hospital and yet, and yet, what shirt is he wearing? Lol, one of his detested shirts!

So you can imagine my absolute delight when Tony wanted to go to the mall on Father's Day! You'd think someday we'd grow up, but we ended up at American Eagle and I swear everything was on clearance {honestly, you had to look to find something full price}.

In addition to some $20 jeans, a couple nice shirts and a polo, Tony found 3 t-shirts! Three! Do you know how happy it made me?! I'm turned on just thinking about him wearing something other than those work t's!

Even yesterday, at work no less, it brought a smile to my face to know that I have 3 t-shirts added to the rotation that will make me view those dreadful work t's less frequently! So you know you're married when you're more excited for your husband's new clothes than your own!

What about you guys? Do you and your hubby have the same fashion sense or are you usually embarassed by their threads?

Um do you not remember my post about throwing out my husband's TAPERED LEG JEANS??? Gah, shoot me now. He is getting better, slowly. Although, I hate being too critical because he looks like a wounded puppy everytime we get ready to go somewhere...he comes down stairs and says "ooookay, what do you want me to wear?" Kinda makes me feel like a jerk!

But yay for shopping!!! Sometimes I've found it helps to pick things out together, haha :)

Such a cute post! I love these pics!

My hubby has gotten so much better over the years. When we were first dating he wore socks with sandals one day and I almost ended it there! (luckly I learned that was and uncommon occurance!)

I do have to tell him somtimes - "You are 27 years old. Fraternity Shirts are no longer acceptable for public. Those are gym and around house only!" Ha!

Lol. The hubs wears the shirts I brought him from my old job. And since the way they handled lay-offs still leaves me bitter, I gag everytime he puts one of those on.

And then there's the fraternity shirts - you know, with inappropriate sayings. Yeah, those got tossed when B left town last.

After 4 years I finally got mine to buy dress shoes (he wore black Vans to interviews!!). Unfortunately, I'm not sure I'll ever see another breakthrough like this again!

mine does pretty good for work, but oh how I hate those t-shirts he insists on wearing on the weekends. They are the ones with the stupid graphic or saying and it's so annoying.

I've got to admit that I think Mike's got pretty good style. It's exactly what I love - put together, but not overly worked (I wouldn't call him metro by any means!) Actually I find myself jealous of him sometimes because I think as a whole his wardrobe is better than mine lol.

I'm impressed Tony suggested shopping! Mike may dress decently, but there are VERY few days where he actually feels like shopping.

HAHAHA!!!! When I read your post I kept thinking that I feel the exact same way about DH! He wears t-shirts ALL the time. Except to work- but he has exactly five, and rotates them...and then as soon as he gets home he is in his PJ's- gym shorts and a t-shirt, and he always wears the same five t-shirts too. It's ridiculous.

I just wish that some times he would wear clean jeans and a long sleeve button up shirt like he would when we were dating :)

I was freaking out wearing this because my husband does the EXACT same thing!!

Lol - I love it you guys!

Bluebird - I expected to come across a lot older pics of him in his work shirts, but as soon as I hit dating pictures I realized there wasn't a single one!

Oh my gosh this is so funny! This is just proof that he does this so he can't deny it! Glad he found some new duds and he won't embarrass you anymore :P

Oh my goodness - this is exactly like reading about my husband! He is an electrician, so grubby jeans and random t-shirts are his entire wardrobe. He even wears t-shirts from previous jobs to work. When I actually get him to wear a nice, button-up shirt....the next battle is getting him away from his camo- and mud-covered work boots...

Two words: BLUE SHORTS.

Not only BLUE SHORTS but those blue basketbally shorts.

Yep, he lives in them

thankfully my husband is more fashionable then i am. sometimes it frustrates me that he cant just run out of the house (yes sometimes it takes HIM longer to get ready then me) but at least i know whenever we're out at least he looks presentable. me on the other hand....

My husband wears clothes from high school. He is 27. Sometimes I want to just throw them away and see how pissed he'd be.

My boyfriend was the same way when I first started dating him. Although he would wear tapered jeans(gag!) and beer logo t-shirts(we both worked at the same beer distributor at the time). I couldn't wait for the first holiday so I could buy him a whole new wardrobe. He loved it because he hated shoppping and would legit wear whatever he had. (the tapered jeans were most definitely thrown out!!!!) So now he just wears polo shirts from old navy, which is at least a step up.

LOL My fiance is the same way. He is a big muscle guy and wears these same three muscle shirts ALL the time and I hate it! Especially when, like you, I go back and realize that is what he has on in bout EVERY picture! haha Or if we are going over to a friends or some event and he wants to wear that and I have to tell him to PLEASE find something else because I am pretty sure thats what you were last time we saw these same people! Ugh Men. ;)

LOL My hubby LOVES Steelers or Notre Dame tshirts and gym shorts. I'm lucky to get him in khaki shorts sometimes. When he puts on a polo or button shirt... OMG it's like Christmas to me!

haha my husband thinks everything matches camo. Its.. just...no.

OH sweetie...I totally get it!!! My husband works for himself so all he has is work shirts. Company logo on one side and then it gets worse...his name on the other. YEP

My Husband wears ONLY black t-shirts and jeans. Every 6 days I get a gray shirt. Those make me smile.

BTW: I LOVE your blog. I've been following for a while but never commented. This time I could NOT resist.

haha. I love this. It's funny, when I met Z at summer camp, I was actually attracted to the way he dressed- A true AF boy, and when you're 14, that's hot. :) Then I realized that yes, he was a good dresser when he tried, but he loved his camo, ATV tees, and Carharts as much as the next country boy. Oy! I figure.. at least he looks good when we go out! :)

I love these pics. I guess I can say that I got lucky, or not. My husband is a little into clothes, which can get costly when that makes 2 of you. I just wish he would wear them, he has the same staple shirts and pants despite having many to choose from.

hilarious! Oddly enough, I'm the one who has to tame Nate's shopping habits. That boy loves to shop more than me.....metrosexual, indeed.

I see our husbands have the same standard wardrobe.

Here is my solution: I just buy him clothes and slowly hide the t-shirts and cargo khaki shorts.

Ha. Q has a shirt that I don't like so much BUT he wears it to work out....so all's good!

Wow...this sounds like we married the same man. My husband loves to wear this Navy shirt with his high school job logo on it. He has multiples of the shirt also. I use them to paint in...hopefully one day I'll ruin enough of them that he can no longer wear them.
I have found that the plain Gap soft tshirts will replace these old work shirts and come in great colors, look nice, and don't have an old worn logo!

I definitely know what you mean! My hub is pretty good about wearing nice stuf out, although I still have to remind him it's okay to put a few more shirts in his rotation!

DH wears button up, collared shirts, with pockets for his pen and calculator. Typical farmer. :)

First, I love that blue dress you are wearing about 1/2 way down on the dock... So stinking cute!

Second, I think that you look great in blue, espeically navy! It just works great against your blonde hair! I think navy is the new black this year! That and that plum color... very nice!

Lastly, I don't have that problem with my husband. Fortuantely, he's more particular about how he looks and what he's wearing that I don't even get to chime in most of the time. That and he's my biggest critic! He rips some of my outfits a part and I'll still wear them just because I think I look good! ha!

I'm glad to know that he's branching out!

My hubs has to dress up most of the time for work. So that means he wears lots of trousers, collared shirts and ties on an every day basis. So when it comes to going to an event besides work he wants to dress down. I always joke around and say that he's quasi-metrosexual.

My hubs has more t-shirts than I can count, so he wears them all the time. He does however have some golf shirts and some polos (that I bought for him), but he is definatly a t-shirt and jeans or for the summer months cargo shorts kind of guy. As for me, I have too much clothes in general. I get bored easily, so I find myself shopping a lot..and some of my closet is clothes with tags still on them.

Meredith said...

This is TOTALLY my husband! He often wears his work t-shirts 7 days a week!

Though, he does hate clothes shopping, so he sends me to do his clothes shopping for him. Slowly but surely, he's getting some non-holey clothes in the repetorie!

I have learned one trick though--when I DO get him to go with me clothes shopping, I have him try on something really trendy first. Then, when we get to the jeans that I actually like, they don't seem quite so trendy as he would have thought when he tried them on first! He'd much rather wear the some-what normal clothes (even if they aren't Carharts and a flannel) than the super trendy ones. Yeah, it's a little sneaky, but it works!

This post is so funny.

My husband has two kinds of outfits: the ones I pick out and the ones he picks out. His "work outfits" that he wears around the house aren't always the best but he usually wears the clothes I pick when we go out in public. This arrangement works pretty well for us.

Kaitlyn said...

Ha! I feel your pain on this Leah. I have to BEG Ryan just to go to Old Navy. Even if they aren't stylish, at least they're gorgeous to us! :)

My husband has zero fashion sense. Lol.

So funny you wrote about this! When I met my hubby he had a ton of great clothes (he used to work at Nordstrom). Now he wears his work t's even on the weekends, I have to beg him to wear something else. Ah wedded bliss!
