Continued Distractions

Monday, June 15, 2009

Saturday night, following Friday night's festivities Tony and I woke up bright and early and drove down to Chanhassen, with Isaac in tow. I made my first step towards a more rewarding future and attended a photography symposium at the University of Minnesota's Landscape Arboretum.

I wouldn't say that it was the most defining moment of my life or anything, but it was well worth the $30 bucks. Tony and I were waived the $9/person admission fee and a box lunch was provided. There were 3 presenters and I definitely enjoyed John Pennoyer the most, even though based on his body of work, I really wanted to like Dan Marshall more.

After their presentations, we were released with inspiration to document the park. Here are my SOOC shots, I can't wait to play around and edit them!

A sweet foreign couple asked for a picture to be taken of them, and then assumed we wanted the favor returned . . . me not so much lol, but it was nice to have a picture of the three of us, even if I hate it.

We were all zonked when we left the park . . . but headed straight to a graduation party! Pics of that to come as well. {I'm really trying to submerge myself in pictures of Isaac and write to distract myself from his absence.}

You guys are being too kind! It was such a fun day!

90% of the pics were with my 85, a few were with my 50mm.

You were less than a mile from my new house! :) I LOVE the arboretum. I'll have to see if there are other photography classes coming up. That sounds fun!

I'm so happy for you that you're taking steps toward your goal. So many people (myself included) claim to have goals but don't ever make any actual steps toward attaining them. The pictures look great! Peonies are so gorgeous, I could look at them all day.

ps I just noticed that you have a label for "striped sweater" and I giggled :)

I love flower pics. So much fun to practice on a stationary, colorful object, isn't it? Hang in there....at least you are an awesome blogger now that you are back to work! :)
