36 weeks

So, hey, um, we're getting down to it. Baby bless now weighs about 6 lbs and measures about 20.7 inches in length. Crown to rump measurement is about 13.5 inches.

I never really went through a phase of feeling breathless, but supposedly I can expect a return to my lung capacity as my baby boy drops. I don't think it's happened yet though based on pictures . . . I kind of think it will be very apparent when it does happen!

His face has filled out and the cheeks now look plump and full. Fat baby cheeks are caused by fat deposits, but also by powerful sucking muscles which he has been honing by sucking his thumb {or not, as neither Tony nor I did suck our thumbs}.

Additionally Baby bless's skull is firm, but it is not hard as it needs to give a little when it is passing through the birth canal {yikes, that's actually going to happen}.

I'm finally moving into a bit more of an uncomfortable phase. Oddly I feel like a whale, but not in my stomach - mainly my legs, butt and arms, you know areas that I could still theoretically work out and make myself feel better. And yet, I don't. I continue to just come home and sit on the couch . . . but that may have more to do with the random twinges that make me feel like my body is splitting in two lol. Other than these twinges, no contractions or Braxton Hicks to speak of, which I kind of think is a good thing.

I do however seem to have a constant sideache, minus the cardio, due to a precious baby butt lodged into the upper portion of my ribs.

On two completely random notes, I realized two major things that I never shared:
1). We're cloth diapering
2). I'm preparing for a natural birth

Oh and 3). I'm on drugs. JK

Wow, you're moving right along! You still look fabulous and just seemed to have gained belly weight.
I imagine that you feel otherwise but really, you do look great!!

My friend who just had a baby is cloth diapering AND she did her labor and delivery au natural. No drugs whatsoever! Her labor was only 5 hours though and it was her first one! She had some complications after the delivery but her and baby are perfectly fine now!

I hope and pray that everything goes smoothly for you!

Can't wait to hear about L&D and see pictures of precious baby bless!

As always, you look great and when you do "drop" it will be very apparent! It's grea that you've done these pictures to watch yourself change too! How fun for you to look back at these... :)

I'm not speaking from my personal experience, but from what I've learned from my friends and their natural births... labor as much as you can from home BEFORE you head to the hospital. You'll be more comfortable and you'll have more control... Hopefully that little mental note will help calm you when you are starting to go into labor.

Also, love the idea of cloth diapering. I'd be interested in knowing the cost comparison! :) A lot of people are doing that these days and I think it's a great idea! :)

I'm glad Tony's back to help you with your pictures!

You look amazing Leah!!

I'm excited that you're doing a natural birth and that you are cloth diapering. I plan on doing both when the time comes, and I know you'll give honest feedback about your experiences. :) Do you plan on using a doula/midwife for the labor? I'm so excited for you...it's getting close!!

You're still adorable!

And yes, those are two pretty major things to share! A friend is cloth diapering in a few months as well and all of her research and knowledge is just fascinating to me!

Good luck!

You look incredible. Seriously you only seem to have gained in your belly! I can't wait to hear about your birth experience. The idea of a natural birth terrifies me!! I'm such a baby about pain.

Like everyone else mentioned, you really do look amazing! And we're also doing cloth diapering...but the natural childbirth? Not so much. I hope everything goes well for you and you are able to use the plan best for you!

You look amazing, Leah! I did natural childbirth and it was pretty tough, I won't lie :( But it will all work out - hang in there!

You're looking great! I am so excited to hear that your cloth diapering and I want to hear all about it! Also, I'm not sure how I feel about a natural birth (no meds I guess?), but let us all know.

Natural birth?? Wow, I am honestly impressed. I'm no where near ready to have a little one just yet, but I already fear the pain that is to come. You are a strong woman! That is so great!

I love the updates.

Cloth diapers? Will you clean them yourself or will your hire a company to drop off and pick up? I've heard of that recently, actually.

Cant wait to hear how both cloth diapering and the natural birth go-you are braver than I am on both accounts!

You look awesome mama!!!

Congrats on the natural birth plan, I did it twice and would do it over that way again if I had to. If I can be of any help in the questions department feel free to shoot me an email!!

My brother and SIL did cloth diapers (fuzzybuns). The nice thing for me is I have no idea what to do with them, so I never had to change a diaper!
I can't believe you only have 26 days to go!

You look wonderful! I hope I will look that good at 36 weeks.

We are also cloth-diapering and preparing for a natural birth! I will praying that your delivery will be quick and smooth. I know you can do it!

Oh baby - literally ! Do you feel prepared ? Anxious ? I think when I get to this point I will be looking for options, such as the unveiling of the secret, that there really is a stork, and he will drop your baby off in 26 days.

You look great! I can't believe you don't have any stretch marks, you lucky girl. Good luck on the natural birth. I definitely couldn't do it and really admire people that can.

I can't wait to hear your accounts on both the cloth diapering and natural birth. When we get to that point, I plan on doing both as well.

You look gorgeous by the way! You're almost there!

Hey, I have been reading your blog for a while now and thought that I would share that I am exactly a week behind you at 35 weeks. We are also planning on cloth diapering and I am also hoping for a natural birth.
God's blessings on the rest of your pregnancy, and I can't wait to hear about the birth!

fallgirly said...

Yay for you and the cloth diapers!! I wanted to do this but my hubby is completely against it and I am too lazy to study up on it enough to argue some good points. What made you decide to do it?

Chelsy said...

I'm so looking forward to your birth story...the natural vs. meds debate is a hot topic among my friends!

Haha I am the odd one out who uses disposable diapers and had an epidural AND C-section! Even though we chose to do things differently, I'll be really curious to know what your experience is like. And I'm definitely going to be curious about how the cloth diapering goes. I have a friend who is doing that as well. Keep us posted!

If you're on drugs, I'm on drugs too.

You look amazing!! I can't believe how much you're just belly! Do you feel that way? I was told that but didn't ever feel that way :)

And yay for cloth diapering and natural child birth! Giving birth was the most exhilarating experience of my life and I loved feeling all of it! (minus the tear, per the last minute epi.. lol)

you look fabulous!! i'm sure you don't always feel that way - but hopefully you can read allllll of these comments and know you do!

You're looking great - sorry you're getting more uncomfortable :( I'm actually hoping I get quite uncomfortable at the end so I'm ready to get the baby out (and all that that entails)!

Can't wait to hear how cloth diapering goes, I may be joining you on that one. The natural birth, however, not so much... :)

OK we are going to need to discuss this natural childbirth after you have the little guy. I have been wanting to do this for a while now (my mom did it for 2 big-headed babies) and I need to hear it from a 21st century girl that its not unbearable!
You're freaking gorgeous, by the way
