Status of the nursery/husband update

Friday, March 20, 2009

Well, I tried to make it so that my tone and answers were not leading, but it didn't matter the majority of you know what's up. Although, I do appreciate the optimism and faith in Tony that 42% of you expressed.

Alas, there has been virtually no progress on the nursery. I say virtually, because the electrical has been run, ceiling insulation has been added and we now have overhead lighting in the living room . . .but I still do not have walls with actual sheetrock dividing my nursery from the bathroom.

In fact, I don't even have sheetrock. Remember that free 1/2" sheetrock we were able to score, that about 2 months ago I was begging Tony to pick up? As in before he ever got the idea to rip down the walls of the nursery to be re-sheetrocked since we were able to receive such fabulous free sheetrock. Yeah, he finally got it last weekend and our co-worker was mistaken, it's 5/8" (aka ceiling sheetrock, much too thick to do all of the walls). Do you know what this means to me? It means that if Tony had gone to get the sheetrock prior to ripping the nursery out, that the nursery would still be standing, with painted walls and Tony would be well past 1/2 way through the bathroom!

To add to the matter, hockey is still not over with. Tony has a Junior Gold tournament that he was invited to ref this weekend, which may mean he is assigned on Sunday as well (he won't know if he got the championship game until late tomorrow). Additionally, in just a week's time he will be flying to Pittsburgh, PA to ref a five day national tournament (which is a really high honor!!!), but also means that he will basically have 4 weeks to complete the nursery and our bathroom remodel.

Oh and did I mention that he just took on a director position of his 40+ team church softball league AND he accepted a new job, effective April 6th?

I'm telling you guys, I really need to learn how to tape, mud, insulate and who knows what else, because I can't even nag, but I'm about at my wits end! With the stress of needing to make it to 39 weeks to qualify for short-term disability, in addition to the fact that we are not even in a position to bring a baby home right now, I surely hope Baby Bless is comfy where he is.

Evy was perfectly happy where she was...I'm praying Little Man will be too! Hang in there!

Lol. You crack me up. Congrats to Tony on his new job, you guys must be super employable to both have new positions in this market. Awesome! And you'll get it done somehow, maybe the baby will arrive ready to help with DIY projects.

I have every faith in both of you that it will all work out just perfectly. Babies don't care if the walls are completely painted (or even existing!). They just want a cuddly place to sleep, which can be put just about anywhere. Good luck with it all!

Crap, that stinks! I'm mean, several good things going on for Tony but the whold nursery/bathroom project and lack of sheetrock, sucks. I hope things come together shortly...

I can totally understand where you're coming from when you feel the stress of getting the nursery done. (yours is a bit more) I have a ton of faith in Tony and that the nursery and bathroom will be completed, beautiful and just the way you want them before Baby Bless arrives!

Hang in there Momma and Baby Bless!

It'll work out even if the nurseries not completed. Baby Bless will still have two parents that love him and that's all that really matters :)

How stressful! I wish that I could send Justin your way to finish up that drywall for you lickety split!

Things will come together. I totally understand how it can be sooo stressful though! If I could sheetrock and mud with you I would :)

If it helps you to feel any better the boys both slept in their bassinet next to our bed for the 1st month it made it easier when they woke up in the middle of the night. Everything will fall into place God's timing is perfect.

awwww. hang in there girl. I wish I could come help you with all that muddin and stuff. Things will all work out. Just keep praying! As I will too.

I'm so sorry! I would be SO frustrated with my husband too :( but just remember a baby doesn't need a perfect nursery when they come home! THey don't even need walls!! Just a laundry basket would do :)

I'm like you and I stressed over getting it down, but it's really not that necessary!

I can only imagine how stressful that must be. But like others said, baby bless won't know if the nursery is done or not. All he needs is loving parents and a warm place to sleep and you have those things all taken care of!

Argh, how frustrating. The nursery will be done with time and like pp said, Baby Bless won't know whether he's in a perfectly finished nursery or one that's still a work in progress.

The only reason why I voted "no" is because I know you guys have had a lot on your plate lately, and it sounds like it's still going to be a while before Tony's life slows down a bit! WOW. I'm sure he will get everything done before the baby comes though. Good men always have a way of pulling through. :)

Yikes, that's stressful. BUT, I'm sure it will all work out. :) Hang in there Baby Bless!

That is tough girl- I'll say a prayer for you! It's a setback, but you and Tony will pull through!

I am sorry you are going through this. I don't know if you plan on doing this, but little Juan has been sleeping in a bassinet in our room so he hasn't even seen his room yet. It is on a different floor of our house though. Hang in there girl!
