Oh and I almost died.

Tuesday, March 24, 2009

For Christmas my Dad gifted me with a nearby mall gift card, even though he may have well have just bought me an American Eagle gift card, as I don't seem to frequent any other store {thank you, I'm well aware of my age lol}.

Before leaving for Florida, Tony and I took a quick run through the store so that I could grab a dress and I just fell in love with a darling little purse on clearance.I wanted to hug it and smush it and bring it to the beach with me, but I just couldn't commit. It was $20 and roughly the same cost as item of clothing, which would well, you know clothe me and in those situations accessories lose. Everytime. So even with my husband telling me I should just go for it, that I would want it later . . . I balked and walked out of the store with $20 left on my gift card.

My husband was right ladies. I did want the purse. I should have thrown down my remaining gift card on that purse. It would have been perfect on the beach, but I was especially compelled to action when I looked online and saw that it was listed for only $12 buckaroos! Since I was husbandless due to hockey on Friday, I knew my evening plans. Once more going to the mall, this time with full intention to use up my gift card.

I don't want to be all hyper dramatic, but I almost died for that purse.

It was on the return trip from the mall, my purse sought and bought for $14.50, in the rain that I was almost a casualty of two effing idiots who did not know when it was time to stop with their road rage. I'd try to describe the scene, but even to those who know the stretch of highway my story only comes out muddily clear.

There were 4 active participants in the scene: myself, big black suped up truck, stupid little gold SUV and my Jesus. It truly is a miracle that I was not side swiped off of the road by two small brained men who were bent on killing each other or me going 25-30 mph over the speed limit.

The shoulder was not an option to escape nor the right lane, as they utilized the left, right and shoulder to play out their agressions. My only option was to maintain my speed in front of them and hope that they had enough common sense to acknowledge my presence. Three times one of their vehicles began to cut the other off behind me . . . while still mid way through my vehicle. Three times, I braced for impact and prayed. Finally after the worst close call, the black truck decided he wanted to slow things down and slam on his breaks infront of the SUV and that is where I lost them.

My immediate thought was to call the police, but then I realized I wouldn't be able to report anything past "effing idiots," "black suped up truck," and "gold SUV." Past that, I did not have anything.

I was a mess following and called Nadia in a flurry of tears. She had to interrupt me to directly ask if I was in an accident or if the police were needed. The tears did eventually subside, but I definitely have mixed feelings for my bag now. Although, the same is not true for my faith. That my friends stands as resolute as ever.

Ugh, Leah. How scary. And how freaking ridiculous. WTH is wrong with people? I had a guy chase me down on the interstate doing 80 a week ago because he tried to get over when I was in his blind spot, so I honked to let him know I was there. Apparently, me honking at him pissed him off. People are so freaking stupid. Thank God you are alright!!

Oh my goodness, I'm so glad you are okay!!!

Can I just say - I do the SAME thing when shopping, I get super indecisive and my hubs sounds just like Tony. It made me laugh!

Things like that are scary anyway, but something changes in you when you're pregnant...you're INSANELY protective of your life and the baby's! I'm glad you're ok!

I hate those hair brain idiots that decide road rage is a way to take out some agression or to show that they are more manly.... it drives me crazy! Seriously, this is how people get hurt. Just think if they were drunk or something... omg, that's awful and I'm SO thankful you are okay! I couldn't imagine.

On a side note, love the purse!

Scary, some people just drive like the road belongs to them and have no regard for other drivers - it's dangerous!

Cute purse, I'm glad you decided to get it! It will be so cute for the summer AND it was on sale :)

stupid effing drivers is right. Identical thing just about happened to us a few weeks ago when we were out and about. I am glad you escaped unscathed but how scary!

That is a really cute person though and it being on sale makes it even better!

Scary! Something similar happened to me on my way to work a while ago. Some idiot in the far left lane of a 3-lane highway decided he needed to get around the guy in front of him and he tried to pass him on the left shoulder. There was a wall in the median so it's not like he could skirt around in the grass or something. Once he realized he wasn't going to fit he had to slam on his breaks and he went flying & spinning all the way across 3 lanes of traffic to the right shoulder. Sorry this is a random lurker post, just had to share!

I'm glad you are ok! God has an amazing way of wrapping us in His arms when we need it most.
In regards to American Eagle, I love it too. I actually worked there for 5 years, and if I hadn't, I would not be married to the most amazing man. My manager there was Jons sister in law, and she set us up on a blind date and the rest was history! :)

...and IDK. I think it's okay to call the cops when other drivers are putting people at risk. They can get a ticket for reckless endangerment or something. But you're right you probably need a little more than the color of the car. A license plate works. If all else fails and no one catches them when they are stupid, I believe they call them letting them know a complaint was made.

Holy shizz man. You should've called the cops. They could've hurt (or killed) someone. Cute purse though!
