His beautiful eyes, no longer fused shut, are now open . . . here's hoping they're blue like mine! His skin still has a very wrinkled appearance, but it is protected and nourished by the covering of vernix, a waxy coating that keeps the skin supple. He looks almost like a full term baby, but is still much thinner and smaller than he will be at birth. For comparison sake, I googled 26-27 week preemies. It's shocking to think that such a developed little being is in my body right now. You'd think I'd be over it by now, but no, not really.
My boobs now touch my stomach when I bend over. Very disconcerting. I also have a very odd pain in my pelvic area. If I think too much about it I'm convinced it's a blood clot, but it feels more like an enlarged gland? I'm not a doctor, I shouldn't play like one.
So long as Baby bless isn't born before April 26th, I'll qualify for short-term disability! Unfortunately, I'm not covered by FMLA, so my leave will hopefully be a short 6 weeker if I have a normal delivery.
I had my glucose test on Friday. Thankfully I had the choice between the trash talked orange flavor and the better reviewed lemon lime flavor. It was well chilled and went down pretty easily. The good news is that I passed! No gestastional diabetes for us . . . but the cut off was 140, and I barely scraped by at 136. Also disappointing, big gulp here, I'm up 21 lbs. I was really hoping for 25, but to be starting the 3rd trimester 4 lbs away from my goal, knowing that most of my weight gain in the 3rd is supposed to be all baby, I don't have much hope.
For a better topic, I'd like to switch to the baby bedding! I |think| this is what we're going to go with for design and layers. On the backside there will be a navy blue quilted material. What do you guys think?

I've been waiting for an updated belly pic!
You're finally looking pregnant - so cute!! And I love the bedding. Love all the patterns together. I can't wait to see the finished product.
Leah it has been so wonderful watching your pregnancy progress! While my husband and I are not at that place yet it also makes me feel better to know that other women are so astounded at the fact that, yes, that is a person inside of you! :) One of God's many miracles.
I love the bedding-- can't wait to see how it turns out!
Love the bedding and the colors have chosen. Like others said, you are looking pregnant now. So cute!
I adore the bedding, so pretty!!
I adore the bedding, it is so precious!! And you look fabulous!
I enjoy your baby bless updates! You are so cute pregnant!! I also like the bedding alot. I can't wait to see it all put together!
I've decided that baby bless is going to be the cutest baby ever based on how cute his mama is during pregnancy.
And I love the fabrics you've picked for the bedding.
LOVE the bedding picks - it will be so cute! It is amazing to think that you have a baby that actually looks like a baby inside that little belly of yours :)
For some reason today when you posted this, I had this thought, "OMG she's already 27 weeks!" I know that you are but for some reason it just seemed to be moving faster than I remembered.
Anyway, you look great as always. My close friend is 28 weeks right now and she's been having the same problem with pelvic pain. She's got a small frame like you and she says that can be so miserable. She's also struggling with headachs but she likes to blame that on her baby girl that she's growing. It's just pay backs for what's to come... :)
Anyway, I hope that everything keeps going smoothly for you! I can't wait to see what this little peanut looks like!
I love the fabric for the bedding. It will be so cute!
Ahhh, you look so cute! I love the bedding! It's going to look great in your future nursery and YAY for qualifing for short term!
How exciting!! I love when you post belly pics!
#1 - I love the fabrics. Perfect!
#2 - The pain in your pelvic area... don't know what it is, but I have it too... all the freakin' time! It's like a sharp, but dull pain, right? I don't know what it is either, but hopefully it's not a blood clot, for both of our sake. ;)
#3 - You are flippin beautiful and adorable all at the same time. :)
Leah,
You and your belly are adorable!!
How is your new job going? Great, I am hoping! Take Care!
You look great! And I love the bedding choice.
Leah, I gained 42 lbs, and have lost all but a stubborn 5. All of that weight came off and I haven't set foot in a gym yet. You'll be just fine!! =)
The bedding is adorable!
Just a quick question for you. I am a follower of your blog and expecting (16 weeks along), is the Short Term Disability you will be getting from your new employer? I am in the market for a new job, but scared to move because someone said I wouldn't qualify for STD because pregnancy is a pre-existing condition. Any information you have would be helpful.
