Praise the Lord!

Thank God almighty, the Vue is sold! I hated the fact that I just complained about it on here, without disclosing that we were actually trying to do something about it. We listed it on a few local sites and while I love all of you {or atleast the 1/3 of you that I know! Sorry lurkers, there's just so many of you now!}, I just didn't want any random creeper to try to contact me through the information disclosed.

Anywhoo, a woman came to test drive it today and we settled on $10,200. It's a loss of about $3,000 in 4 months, but it's worth it.

Finally, it appears this chapter will close and in all honesty, I'm ready to throw away the book.

Our plan now is to get a Honda/Toyota/Saab/Volvo/VW/Buick with miles, pay it off quickly and then continue to save our "payment" amount in an account specifically for purchasing our next vehicle. It's a simple plan made popular by Dave Ramsey and Tony is suddenly gung-ho on DR. Seriously gung-ho. And while I could be happier if he'd signed on when I was very fiscally aware and wanted to do things with our money last year, I guess better late than never!

I am so bummed you didn't like your Vue. We just bought a 2008 and I love it so far. Hopefully they have worked out all the issues you had. You will be happy in your new car, let us know what you end up getting!

Karen- that really was the worst part about it. As a vehicle, I loved the Vue . . . just not this one! Lol. The 2008's are really, really nice as well!

Leah,
I am glad you are done with this chapter and you are able and willing to move forward. I am sorry that your Vue didn't work out for you. Micah and I just bought a 2008 Vue and I absolutely love it.

Hey- how's the pregnancy doing? I don't recal you saying that you have had morning sickness at all. Have you?

I love Dave's plan. If the Escape ends up totaled (unlikely), I'm going to suggest this to Kevin.

I'm a fan of DR - although a lot of it is common sense, it helps my hubs to see it in writing by someone else, rather than me just telling him! Congrats on selling the Vue. If you want advice based on my car experience (which you probably don't) I'd stick to Honda or Toyota, they're much more reasonable to maintain - my VW is a lot to keep up because of the german parts, and same goes for my old Volvo.

leah how did you know that I would have stalked you? did emily tell you? That girl is no longer my blog friend :)

Congrats on the selling of your lemon. I hope that your next car is a beast of a machine.

YAY!!!!!! I'm relieved for you. I've been casually researching DR...think some of Tony's gung-ho-ness can rub off on Mike haha?

Glad you sold that piece! What a relief you must feel.

Can I recommend a Nissan? I'm on Nissan #2 because they can do no wrong ;)

Congratulations! What a huge relief!
I'm sure everyone has their own opinions, but I'll second Emily on the Hondas. Toyotas are awesome too, but right now myself, both my sisters, my mom, SO, and almost-mom-in-law all drive Hondas and *knockonwood* we haven't had any problems with them so far!

Oh well, we did just have to put a new alternator in SO's civic, but it does have over 300,000 miles on it so I guess I'm ok with that. ;-)

The way I've heard it is domestic cars will need fixed more often but it will be cheaper than say Hondas and Toyotas which will be more expensive to fix, but won't require it as frequently. Who knows. Either way, you'll be better off than with that Vue!

Here is some more unsolicted advice from your internet friend with the father who is a car dealer and who is married to a mechanic.

Please do NOT get the Vovlo/Saab/VW. They are EXTREMELY expensive to maintain and have service performed. Further, they are often difficult to diagnose, which also racks up the bill.

I personally think Toyota is your best bet simply because they are so freaking reliable. Here in CA, used Toyotas are at a premium so people are paying through their ears for them, but if you can find one, I say snatch it up!! Same goes with Honda-they're nice and reliable, not to mention cheap to fix. I'd be weary of a Buick, only because my FIL is obsessed with Buick and everyone he has owned has had major problems. They make decent cars but if GM goes belly up you'll be hurting to find someone who honor any warranty you may have.

OK, rant over. :)

YAY I am so happy that mess is behind you now you can focus on a new vehicle.

My hubby is wanting me to get a Civic when we go car shopping for me early next year, everyone says they're so reliable. Just my two cents. I'm excited for you to be able to get something you can depend on.

YAY! So, so glad that you got rid of it!! That must be a huge relief!! We are HOPING that we will soon be able to get a Ford Edge! We have researched the heck out of them, test drove and everything {{fingers crossed}}. Might be worth checking out to see if it fits your needs.

Yay for selling the vue. That must be a huge weight off your shoulders.
I am a Dave Ramsey fan too and we are trying to do the same things with our "car payments" now that the car we own is paid off.

Good luck finding a new vehicle!

I like DR quite a bit myself. Hooray for selling the car and for focusing on financials. :)

SO happy for you regarding the Vue. What a relief that must be! And it sounds like it sold for more than a dealership would have traded it for, so you guys are in good shape!

Yay Leah! What great news! Here's hoping you get a great vehicle!
