So, 25.

Years that is. Yup, I made it. Today's my birthday.

Warning: I'm being a whiny hormonal baby.

Can't say I'm excited about it though, it's nothing really special.

Not that presents are all that it's about, but Tony gave me my present two weeks ago, a beautiful Bible, since we joined a small group at church which is following a daily devotional. My Mom gave me my presents in June, some nice shrubs and perennials :) and I won't be receiving a present from my Dad for a few weeks I'm sure.

Traditionally on Monday nights we join our friends for a local taco joint's crazy cheap prices. It's nice to have a day when I can expect to see my friends, especially following the nonsense that is Monday . . . but Tony didn't make any plans for tonight. He just assumed we'd go to Acapulco, as we always do. Kind of a disappointment, you know? {And Aaron, you can not misconstrue that into my being disappointed to celebrate my birthday tonight with you and the gang!} Oh and before we go to Acapulco, he'll be running around with his Dad in his truck to make use of my cousin's dumpster, while I'm at home.

I'm really stressed at work as well, so the combo of anti-climatic birthday with real demands makes for a bad day. It's hard when your husband only has 10 hours on the planning sheet and it's your job to make sure we have business coming in so that he has a job.

Bleh. It's just another day.

I should add, it's highly unusual for me to be this disappointed about my birthday. I'm not one to make a big deal out of it!

Based on some of the responses that have challenged me to remember my blessings, because I truly am blessed (!), I challenge you my readers to come up with some of the obvious and not so obvious reasons why I should embrace my birthday as a blessing anyways!

Sorry you're so disappointed. I know the feeling well because I am a December birthday (Why, Mom? WHY?) I hope your day turns out better. Birthday hugs to you!

Not true! It is a marvelous day, because you are employed, because Tony is employed, because you are healthy and PREGNANT, because your 25th year is going to rock your world. And because TACOS are the best food items on the planet, and you get to have some today.

It's all about perspective, Leah. :-)

I'm sorry to hear your day isn't going as fabulously as you'd like it to. Birthdays are huge in my book, so I completely get the disappointing feeling.

So here's what you do--go make it fabulous! Treat yourself to something while you wait for Tony before dinner. A new outfit, a quick mani or pedi, whatever your style is, go do it! It will be a great pick-you-up and you definitely deserve it!

Happy Birthday Leah!

I know sometimes it's hard to look on the bright side. And I am the pot calling the the kettle black here (ummm remember my miserable birthday....so that's why I'm trying to catch you before the day ends). Kpapa hit the nail on the head! It's all about perspective :)

Here's to a Happy 25th and tons more happy days!

Happy Birthday!

Sorry it's less than exciting. I know how that feels... It seems that the older we get the less fuss is made about our birthdays.

I hope that you do something a little special to celebrate tonight!

Happpy birthday Leah! Sorry it's not as exciting as you were hoping. I hate it when things work out that way!

Happy Birthday!!! Hey, your car insurance should go down and you can rent a car without paying some silly under-age fee! Those are reasons to celebrate, plus, being pregnant, happily married, meeting up with friends, and have plenty of blog stalkers :)

Happy Birthday!

Birthdays do seem to be getting more and more anti-climatic, don't they?

Happy Birthday Darling! I'm sorry it's a crappy day and hope it gets better :)

Happy Birthday!! At least it is an excuse for you to do ANYTHING you want - like stopping on the way home for a ridiculously overpriced coffee drink, getting a manicure/pedicure/facial, going to Target to pick up some cute clothes.... I'm sorry your day is sucking though! I hope it gets better!

Happy birthday! 25 was really hard for me for some reason!!!

You should do something totally frivolous and just for you a birthday is a great excuse for pampering time and just think on your next birthday you'll more than likely get a card that says happy birthday mommy!

Happy Birthday! Enjoy your dinner with friends - sometimes the less planned out birthday are the best.

Happy QUARTER OF A CENTURY! And what better way to be celebrating your birthday than with the notion that you're about to be blessed with the greatest gift of all... a new addition to your family! =) Congrats, and happy birthday!

Happy Birthday! It's your last birthday without needing a babysitter to go out.

Happy Birthday! You've been given many good blessing reminders but I can totally understand why you'd be a bit bummed. And since I can see you hesitating to spend money on yourself like others have suggested, just do something for yourself. Like allow yourself to just be completely lazy and watch TV when you get home (I have a hard time doing that sometimes). And order LOTS of guacamole tonight - that sounds heavenly! Hopefully your 26th will make up for this one, I'll even make the offer now to babysit :)

Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, you look like a money and you smell like one too!!! Hehe just kidding, you know I love ya girly!!
Today is a great day because you were born, and I am thankful for your birthday because God has blessed me with an inernet friend in you!! Have a wonderful day and enjoy every minute! :)

First things first: HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! :)

So here goes: your birthday could be like this every single year! But your birthday is not always anticlimactic and I'd bet you have some great moments to remember in past years. Plus, you and Tony have many years of birthdays to celebrate. Also, next year will be a birthday with a baby in tow so maybe you can look forward to a parent-only night for your birthday (especially if you make a point to mention this to your husband). Plus, if you communicate to Tony that you'd like to make your birthday a bit more of a "me" day, you can suggest that the two of you go get a nice dessert at another restaurant tonight.

Just some tips! (I have not read any of the above comments yet so I am sorry if these are just repetitious).

Happy birthday, Leah! Too bad it's not all it used to be when we were kids---but go out there and enjoy every last minute of it anyway!

Oh-and sometimes when my birthday falls on a weekday I extend it all the way to the weekend! ;-)

First off:

Happy Birthday to you!
Happy Birthday to you!
Happy Birthday dear Leah.....
Happy Birthday to you!

I know it's not the day you had hoped for, but just imagine all the things you have to look forward to. This time next year, you'll be a mommy. You'll get to spend your 26th birthday with your darling baby and your husband and I'm sure you won't find any better way to spend that next birthday. Thinking of you!

Ah poo. Happy birthday anyway.

Happy birthday! Weather it's an exciting one or not, it still marks another year of good health and good fortune. Heck, you are married to a stellar guy, preggo with your first babe, and don't you own a fabulous house with a fenced in yard? Yeah, I'd say it's a pretty good time to be you:) But seriously, lots of people would love to be in your 25 year old shoes. Just wait til you turn 27....talk about anticlimactic! :)

Happy Birthday, Leah! Every birthday I remind myself that I am a year wiser, a year more mature, and have a year of more laugh lines from the joy in my life. :)

Don't worry, I always get sad when my birthdays are anti-climactic. I can't help it.

This is your first birthday as a MOMMY!!! :o)

I understand---I've been there!

Happy birthday...just a couple of hours late! I was thinking about it on the way home from our honeymoon. There was a couple behind us and Matt and I were talking, oh they are probably our age...22, 23 then I paused...wait, we're 25 and 26...pretty soon we'll be 30! While 30 seems so impending and a huge hill, it seems so close but so far away.

Okay, sorry, its 2am and I'm waiting on 150 photos to upload and I'm rambling. The real reason I ran over to your page is because I'm Kristal's friend...the bride from a week ago. I just wanted to say thanks for your comment on her page...its extra special when someone you don't know says you look good so THANKS! And again, sorry for rambling and HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

Happy Birthday! You should go out and buy yourself a present; that's what I always do, especially if my day isn't going as I would like.

Be happy that you're 25! It's a great age!
