Confession

Friday, August 8, 2008

So, if you remember this little splurt . . . I was half way telling the truth. The conversation did turn to charting . . . but the fact that a friend is embarking on the ttc is kind of a supporting fact.

In truth friends, Tony and I are contemplating making the same move.

That's scary. Very scary and now, it's out there. For you all.

So, on the suggestion of my friend AJ {who I get to see tomorrow!} I did buy a BBT thermometer and checked out a copy of TCOYF from the library. If nothing else, I am amazed at the level I did not understand my body. It's eye opening and down right frightening.

So, I'm charting now. I'm not even a full month into it, but it's addicting.

Also fun, my husband's commentary of fun facts gleaned from TCOYF on the drive in to work. Here are two gems.

In response to the new knowledge that by locating a pea sized lymph node by pointer finger, while your middle finger is placed on the top artery of your leg, may provide inside information as to which ovary is ovulating . . . "Oh, so you can tell the sperm whether to turn right or left?"

In response to the knowledge that sperm go through a potential 72 day maturation/fertilization process before being released . . . "So I've got my own swim team in training?"

I nearly lost it, in the past month Tony has made me laugh out loud more times than in our entire marriage combined.

That's hilarious! I'm glad Tony has a sense of humor over this.

Jim's reaction was different. He said things felt like a science experiement. But I just told him that the stuff I was learning about my body was amazing.

Good luck with your decision. Jim and I were about to jump on the baby making wagon..and we did for one month..but then I kind of got cold feet and we're playing it month by month now. So far no trigger has been pulled yet and we for sure have to wait until after our Disney trip in November (I loooover roller coasters!).

I'm so excited for you!

Awesome! I'm in the same boat as you. :-) Have y'all decided when you'll start actively trying yet? Good luck with everything!

Ooh, good luck! :)

Pulling the trigger is a scary thing, you're right!!! We've been on the cusp for months, but then the next month always gets here and it's like No! Not quite ready!!

Exciting news! I love Tony's reactions! Interesting stuff, apparently I'm totally clueless about all this charting business...

Congratulations on your big decision (or almost decision)! I agree that babies are a scary prospect for a number of reasons-- I spent a lot of time worrying that we'd have difficulty conceiving. I had to stop reading some blogs that were stressing me out! I won't even get started on the scary prospect of parenting--we're still getting used to the pregnancy thing. :) Good luck on your journey!

When we first decided we did want to have a baby and SOON, I went a bit overboard with the charting and when it came down to it, we got stage fright! We put it off for another three months and decided to just "have an idea" of the best time and two months in we got a positive result. It's one of those things- you never know until you try and I think with all the info out there it's hard to think it might actually be *easy* or at least easier than you initially make it. Good luck! BTW- after 14 years with Target I am finally getting a Christmas off- how's that for planning!
