For Christmas my in laws got me an Abercrombie gift card . . . and I've been waiting and waiting to cash it in. I finally found the best use of my money in their online clearance this weekend!
I just hope they're cute and fit!

So, in accordance with today's date.

Tony and I went to Home Depot and Target after lunch with my Mom and grandparents today. At HD I picked up a few more seeds, a florescent fixture, a grow lamp and one more seed starting tray.

My goal is to not have to buy annuals this year, even though I'm looking at my seeds now and I know that I'll still have to lol.

Here's what I've got so far.

One year ago today.

We closed on our house! I wish I had the sellers photos, but they're all on my old computer which is inaccessible right now. So no point of comparison, but what a ride it's been!

I'm a silly girl.

Saturday, March 29, 2008

After spending the last half an hour coming up with three contract solutions, I called Brady to throw the offer back to the drawing board.

All I had to say was that I would be walking away from 12 weeks 75% pay maternity leave, as opposed to their offered 6 weeks unpaid. Brady right away said that he would have it negotiated for me on Monday morning and that they are "so positive" I am the right person for this position, that "there is no way this will be a roadblock."

So after reviewing the offer.

Tony and I stumbled upon a deal breaker. They only offer six weeks unpaid maternity leave.

Of course there are only 5 women in the office . . . so I'm sure it hasn't been a huge issue before.

The state of MN requires companies of 50 employees or more to offer 12 weeks, at least 75% paid, and that is what I would be leaving at Target.

So, I get to negotiate, because the other thing is that after my last two raises, the amount that they are offering over that would actually equal out to the amount that I would lose if I had to take 6 weeks unpaid.

Well then . . .

Friday, March 28, 2008

The offer came through, and well, let's just say it didn't disappoint. Prior to my last two raises, one of which has not even hit my paycheck and the other we're just two paychecks into . . . I would stand to get almost $20K more. SERIOUSLY.

This morning went extremely well. I met with the 3 principles, Brady, Jim, Dan, in addition to Mike who is an owner. I dazzled with my wit and quickness, and I'm only half joking, I can always make that group laugh. We went over my proposed marketing plan for the company and I basically tore their website to shreds.

I really wanted to know the offer, but then again, I didn't. I don't want this decision to be solely based on money alone. However, if it's not based on money, my heart and adventurous side still lead me to KOMA. In all reality, in face of this over whelming opportunity, all Target embodies right now is safety.

I'm scared to take this position, but in my heart of hearts, I know it is my dream job. To be able to establish their marketing and be the front face for a company, it's unbelievable.

Tony and I still have to discuss, and pray.

And apparently . . .

. . . still writing! Gah!

Sheer nonsense.

They're writing an offer.

We Won!

Tony and I have gone to quite a few Wild games, but it never fails, they always lose when we're there! Last night finally changed that! They beat the Oilers!

Here are a few shots from the Suite last night.

Target Suite!!

Wednesday, March 26, 2008

Not that it helps at all, given that I have to work tomorrow night and I'm feeling extremely under prepared for Friday . . . We're goign to the Wild game tonight!

A few months back I won tickets at Target, and we get to sit in the Target Suite!!

I'm super excited!

Developments . . .

So . . . Tony spoke with his boss today and relayed the following info:

"He said it is going to be a laid back get to know you interview for the most part. He said they will ask some questions and they want you to be yourself. Nothing to big to prepare for, but the few he talked about are below.

Firstly, a writing sample. Secondly ideas and suggestions.

Brady said be honest and up front about things you feel you need to say, whether you like something or you dont, no matter what the subject (Website, sign, etc.) As I said last night, they want someone who is not afraid to tell them how to do things and lay it out for them. It will show courage and your strong will.

They are going to ask about your past history and responsibilities with Target (or other work experience) and how they would relate, transfer over to here.

You dont need to have defined ideas, but general ideas that you can work on making happen.

Bottom line, be yourself, they will joke with you quite a bit I am guessing. It should be down to earth and friendly. Brady said that if you do get intimidated meeting with the four of them (Mike being the 4th) you probably would not be the best fit. I dont see that an issue at all though. I cant remember a time where you seemed intimidated."

Tuesday, March 25, 2008

I never clarified. He wants to meet with me tomorrow, but I had a conflict, so I'll be interviewing on Friday morning.

Also, today I definitely stirred up the bee's nest. In an attempt to prove myself valuable I often comp shop online to compare our C9 Athletic apparel against the likes of Nike, Adidas, Asics and others. This morning I decided to include Champion on that list, even though they are our strategic partner.

While on their site I realized that half of their product being sold on their website is C9 Target designs. It's kind of confusing, but even though it's C9, it's Target's product. Not for Champion's benefit, past what we pay them. So basically, end of day, they are partnering with Target to get a pulse on the Target guest. Basing pricing on what Target needs and what Champion needs and allowing themselves a huge gross margin by undercutting their supply costs through Target paying to their benefit.

Um, huge find on my part. My buyers were LIVID and went straight to the director, who is taking the time to prepare before confronting the Champion VP. HUGE DEAL.

Additionally, Angeli has some what been more involved recently. She sweetly asked how I was doing via text tonight, but when I asked if I could call her, she failed to respond for a 1/2 an hour and then finally said that Aka was throwing a fit. Okay, that seems insensitive to type, but through our friendship I've only talked to her 3 times on the phone. It would just seem that if she were really concerned about how I was feeling she would talk to me on the phone, especially if I asked, whatever time Akaela was through. But that's just how it's seems to me. :(

So this morning, I did a little more calendar stalking and stumbled upon a lunch the hiring manager set up for the whole creative buying team . . . officially welcoming two girls who were working under contract on their team. They have now been hired on.

I received the official word that I did not receive the job at about 2:30 or so. The Hr rep was appalled to find out that I interviewed a month ago, and said there were too many delays, even though this was the hiring managers first attempt at hiring.

So the low down is that at here was a Sr. Specialist position open and an Assoc Specialist position. They interviewed a Sr. Print buyer for the Sr position, who then backtracked after the interview and did informationals, because she wanted confirmation of the responsibilities of the position. They offered her the position, but waited on the assoc specialist until her decision. She turned the job down, so they didn’t feel comfortable bringing in an assoc specialist with someone with little to no more experience.

So just as I read, they are hiring on two of the girls who have been in contracted positions on the team.

They wanted a high and low, but they ended up with two mediums.

Soo . . . as I'm digesting this, I go to call Tony. I'd already forewarned him of the lunch I found, so we were pretty prepared for this info. I called, and I called, and I called once more, but no husband. About a 30 an hour after I found out, he finally called me back.

Me (annoyed): Hi.
Tony (breathless): Hi! How are you?!
Me (even more annoyed): Well, I've been trying to call you to tell you I officially didn't get the job.
Tony: Oh, okay.
Me (not even on the level of annoyed any more, but past): Really?
Tony: Well I just got done with an important good conversation.
Me (interest slightly piqued): Okay, with who?
Tony: Brady (Tony's boss).
Me: Okay, and?
Tony: He wants you to interview. Tomorrow, if you can.

Tony's company wants to interview me for their marketing/new business/graphic design position!

I've never seen a closed door produce an open window faster.

Super nummy, and I'm already thinking of ways to make it better.

Weekend update.

Okay, so basically a Saturday-Sunday update as I already recapped Friday eve.

So Saturday, I got up at the crack of 9:00, which following a bottle wine, was not easily done. I prepared myself as best possible and headed out to Plymouth, which I honestly under-estimate everyt time I go. So I ended up about 15 mins late to my hair appt, which fortunately isn't that big of a deal seeing as how Jenny just does it out of her house.

The girl does a full color, cut and eyebrows for $60. I'm not fussy about my hair, but the last two times I've left I'm never in love with my hair. I mean a little bit of color and shine is always a good thing, but when I check the mirror at her place, I'm like, huh, okay.

Thankfully, as soon as I get home I fall in love with it! There's something about seeing things in your home light.

I don't have any pictures of my hair, but I do of Saturday night . . .

So after a full day of lounging, Tony and I went to Beth's birthday party at Brunswick Zone. After a seperation, this couple has decided to refocus their lives and surround themselves with good hearted people, lol and we're included.

I had a fun time, everybody knocks bowling, honestly. It is fun.

My married boobs do not get to come out that often, but made an appearance Saturday. :)

No idea why I'm so freaking happy lol.

We ended up not following them out to DT Minneapolis, but went home early to construct my Easter Dessert.

IT WAS FANTASTIC, if I do say so myself.

So Easter was a good time spent with 3 families, per the usual.

My Step Mom was rude, but that's normal, same with Tony's cousin lol.

As promised.

Saturday, March 22, 2008

We started at the Gopher game.

Brought my bro along to my friend's house. He ended up spending the night with us.

I like to make weird faces.

Kier stayed on track with me, we finished our bottles at the same time.

This is one of the less worse pictures of me for the evening lol.

*Thank goodness I went and got my hair done today! Gah, I had fun last night, but I looked terrible!

I drank a bottle of wine last night.

Pics to come.

So fitting for today.

My Power of a Praying Wife:
"Those who seek the Lord shall not lack any good thing." Psalm 34:10.

When we seek the Lord and look to Him as our source, He will provide for us and we will have everything we need.

Um, say what?

Still have not heard anything about the job, and I do not expect to today, as I finally bit the bullet and emailed the hr rep again today and he is out of the office.

In related news however, a mystery has been solved. Yesterday all of the sr. buyers in the company were pulled into an announcement. Today, all of the managers and buyers were pulled in for an announcement. Finally at 11:00 all of the MC's were pulled in . . . and low and behold, all MC's are now Merchandise Specialists.

On top of this, we all received raises, in addition to our annual merit increase!!!

I'm only two paychecks in to adjusting to my last promotion and now I'll start receiving at least $1.00-$1.50 more!

Sheer craziness.

3 Miles last night.

Thursday, March 20, 2008

Tonight after I return from Acapulco, I will have 2 miles to complete awaiting me.

It's sad, but I've already thought of the ways that I will reward myself for all of this good running, because obviously I'll be hot when I'm running 20+ miles per week. :) Lol.

Quick update.

Wednesday, March 19, 2008

So I've become quite the stalker as less and less information comes my way . . . My quick little update is solely that there is an appt tomorrow morning between the hiring manger I interviewed with, the art buyer that is his peer and a contracted position to "Handoff meeting w/ Jo Wagner for 2 open positions."

So this makes me think a lot, but does not lead to any conclusions.

First of all, I have no idea what Jo Wagner, in a contracted position, does or why she is involved.

Secondly, the positions are still named as 2 and open.

Thirdly, this makes me once again question whether or not I will hear something by the end of the week or not.

S-T-upid Tuesday

Tuesday, March 18, 2008

Embarking on our 1/2 training began a little early, so I'm not too concerned with pushing it a little tonight. I ran 4.5 miles. :) Instead of my needed 3.

Augh, I'm just so annoyed tonight.

Firstly, no word on the job. Secondly, Angeli emailed back basically saying that she thinks our friendship has appropriate boundaries now. Thirdly, this bathroom reno has become a two bathroom reno, which means the price is additionally going up. This not only annoys me, it pisses me off, because Tony's already ran into unexpected problems.

Which he of course couldn't have known without busting up our basement floor.

Don't tell me spring is around the corner.

Seriously, every where I go people are going on and on about Spring. HELLO?! Have you ever lived in MN? Just because it's Easter and March does not constitute Spring! It will get here whenever it feels like it.

Case in point.

4 Miler.

Sunday, March 16, 2008

So in training for this half marathon, Tony and I are starting about 3 weeks earlier than we're supposed to based on our schedule.

Which is fine by me, considering I'm super excited I ran 4 miles tonight!

That's right, I'm prepping to run 13.1 miles and I'm excited about 4.

I have a long way to go lol.

Back to #637

Holly's got some competition. I can't get this house out of my mind's eye. It was so amazingly perfect.

Parade of Homes.

Saturday, March 15, 2008

Tony and I went to a few homes (9) featured in the Parade of Homes and are wishing that we made triple what we do. There were two houses that we would buy in a heart beat. Which even though we don't have the money lol, still means something because we're kind of turning into house snobs when it comes to dream homes.

The millwork and attention to detail in #637 was amazing.

Friday, March 14, 2008

We made the final payment on our Menard's Big Card. There was only a balance for 6 months, and those 6 months were interest free, but it still feels good!

So not a morning runner.

Even though I failed to get up and run before work yesterday, I was off early enough from Acapulco to be able to knock out the low 2 mile run. It was supposed to be 20 min cross or 2 mile run and even though I felt as though I managed atleast 20 min cross training while serving, I still wanted to run.

So . . . we're at 11 miles for the week!

Today's a rest day, but I have soccer this evening . . . ooops.

Tomorrow is another cross training day and Sun is the long run day at 4 miles.

Seriously annoying.

Almost everyday this past week, as I've been putting makeup on or dressing for the day, I've looked at myself and thought, "Today just could be the day." Sadly, this morning was not one of those occurances, because the fact of the matter is, I'm completely drained.

I'm no closer to knowing if I've been chosen, and I do not seem to have any support on that front, as my old buyer and sr. buyer are in Europe, as my new buyer is traveling and my sr. buyer suggested I email someone. These are the people who are supposed to be advancing my career and going to bat for me. I've emailed my hr rep, but he has appts all day so I doubt I'll hear anything.

When this all began I was truly and honestly simply excited to be interviewed before I was even seniored and had been here for just over a year. After 3 weeks of reflecting, and allowing this possibility to consistently build upon itself as reality, I'm scared that I will not be able to react appropriately if I am not chosen. If this is a No, I really need to find out sooner rather than later.

I'm in love with The Holly.

Wednesday, March 12, 2008

Note, that's The Holly, not Holly. :)

A simple google search of craftsman style homes led to this love affair.

Just look at her.

I almost love the entire floor plan as well! Tony would be able to make a few tweaks . . .

So after that proud moment . . .

I just ate 2 girl scout cookies and 3 vanilla wafers. :(

Three more miles down . . .

Based on our schedule, I was supposed to run 2 tonight and 3 tomorrow, but since I'm working tomorrow, I decided to do the 3 tonight and the 2 tomorrow morning . . . hopefully. I'm terrible at getting up in the morning to run!

1. They forgot to tell me that I didn't get the job.
2. My phone number doesn't work.
3. My senior buyer told them no.
4. My email is not active.
5. They forgot about the positions even being open.

Seriously, my mind is going silly.

Still no word . . .

Tuesday, March 11, 2008

But I'm 6 miles in to my training for Grandma's. Tony's a little lagging, but he hopped on the treadmill tonight!

I survived.

Sunday, March 9, 2008

One more state hockey tourney down! Thankfully. I don't know if it was because I was just recovering from my nastiness or what, but it was especially hard to go to all of the games this year.

We also finished our taxes and I think Tony wants to leave the country, because he's upset that 1/3 of his hockey money essentially went to taxes, even though it wasn't taxed at the onset. So we owe $350. Not cool to owe, but Tony looked and we made $30,000 more than we did in '06 so it makes sense that his untaxed hockey money would swing us that much.

On that note though, we're planning our anniversary trip! We're going to go on a Caribbean cruise! Whoo hoo!

That was fun.

Friday, March 7, 2008

I got home from work a little early today, and it was my turn to try to coax Allie out of her kennel. She was spayed last Thursday and has been a complete head case ever since. She's urinated in the house 3 times, is grabbing our shoes/socks and taking them to bed with her, and is just moping.

Tony, being the guy that he is, has tried to punish her, even though I've tried telling him that she's going through menopause and that dogs have hormones too!

So, I get home and she will not come out, but on top of this, she is convulsing. Like total body convulsions, so I ran upstairs and called our vet, who is only 5 mins away. We've already been concerned as she hasn't be eating much, so we had an appt for 8:00 tomorrow morning, but I called and they wanted to see her tonight.

It was trouble getting her out of the kennel, but I finally coaxed her out. Once we got in the car, she was happy and excited, like usual. No convulsions once we got to the vet, but they were very concerned as well, considering she's lost 5 lbs!

They gave me an estimate to share with Tony, $335!

Bah, one update.

I finally gave in and emailed the HR specialist who is working on my job posting. He then forwarded my info request to the HR rep, who very nicely answered that no decisions have been made.

He expects to hear something in the next few days.

And I would hope so!!!!

So there is an opportunity for more prayers.

In other news, my Grandpa will be going in for a full body scan.

So there is an opportunity for even more prayers.

To add to the frustration . . .

Thursday, March 6, 2008

I'm going to be going to the Boys State Hockey Tournament allllll day today.

It's fun, but c'mon! In addition to not being at work, finding out about my career, because of the tournament we're not going to Scott's cabin this weekend with all of our friends. Boo to that.

Well then.

Wednesday, March 5, 2008

So it appears that if they did indeed catch my Grandpa's cancer at an early stage, that the removal of one kidney should be efficient.

However, we have to wait yet on the confirmation of that news.

I've dreaded my Grandparents health failing for a long time now. Even though I have lost step grandparents, my Mom's parents have been everything to me.

I grew up 5 mins from their house, and always knew that I could rely on them whatever I needed. Now that relationship has changed, and I try to help in any way possible, but they are still so intertwined into my life.

Also waiting to be confirmed, my job status! Gah.

I came in for the morning and should be leaving shortly. I was really hoping to hear one way or the other.

Two things.

Tuesday, March 4, 2008

Completely unrelated, one completely irrelevant to the other.

#1. Tony and I got into Grandma's half. I will start training next week!

#2. My Grandpa just found out today that he has kidney cancer.

Take aways from the H&G Show

I'm in love with a granite from Cambria, called Brownhill!

Every where we went, I could automatically pick it out.

So, it's about $75/sq ft, but it has to be installed by a Cambria guy, and we'd need 8 sq ft according to Tony . . . so I'm not going to have a $600 vanity top. :(

A lot of good that did me.

Seriously. For some reason I stayed at work yesterday and didn't raise enough of a fit to not go into Acapulco. Which of course resulted in me not leaving until oh, 10:45. I took my Tylenol Cold Night, but it sucks. I'll never stray from Nyquil again. I woke up at about 1:45 absolutely freezing, but apparently I was hot to the touch. Yay! Fever.

So I called in today, which sucks, because I just want to KNOW!

Thank goodness!

Monday, March 3, 2008

Angeli just stopped by my cube, just as I was pulling up her calendar wouldn't you know. She just grabbed and said let's walk. So we went into an enclave and she apologized. She told me that she had unrealistic expectations, because she'd been purposely not appling for ISM jobs, because she knew I had wanted to go that way. So she said that because of that, she felt like it was a slap in the face when I told her I was doing an informational. She elaborated that she was terrible to me last week and that she was sorry. She confirmed that in prior friendships she'd tried to fake that everything was all right before it really was, and that even though she didn't react appropriately, that she was still adjusting and trying to do right.

I apologized as well, because I truly did not want to hurt her in any way. And now, here we are, maybe not perfectly healed, but going in the right direction.

Thank you God.

Now if only I would receive a phone call!

Hebrews 11:1

Tony read me a verse last night, that will not get out of my head:

Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.

Added to that is my devotional for the day:
Do you see the man who exceeds in his work? He will stand before kings; he will not stand before unknown men.

It's Monday.

Last night, I had the most fantastic soccer game in a good long while. Nadia and I connected for 3 goals and 3 assists. 2 of her 4 goals came from my assists and my goal came from her. It was sooo much fun! You wouldn't even have suspected that we didn't have any girl subs and that Nadia and I had to be on the field for the whole game!

After coming home though, I started to pay for it. My throat was sore yesterday morning, which I attributed to trying to talk at the very loud game Saturday, but holy crap, this morning it's so much worse! I'm thankful that I took half of a tylenol pm last night, or I'm very sure I wouldn't have slept a wink since I was coughing so much.

Very sweet moment last night though, Tony prayed for me and then we sang our favorite songs to each other and together. And by favorite songs, I mean worship/hymns. It was very sweet, and as I very often do, I got caught up in my thankfulness for the man that is my husband.

Sunday, March 2, 2008

Last night I had a lot of fun going to the St.Johns/Hamline MIAC semi final game. Tony was a linesman, and received a TON of heckling during the game. Tickets actually sold out, and my brother, his friends, and Aaron and Missy were lucky to have gotten in. I arrived bright and early to save seats so we were taken care of. In passing Tony had mentioned Brad and his fiance were coming and sure enough, I saw them right as they came in.

Brad ended up getting in an argument with the man behind us, and he just would not back down! Neither one of them sounded intelligent and I wanted to say my piece as well, but held back. Hockey is not my sport and I wouldn't want to sound even more stupid.

We went to Sweeney's afterwards, had some $.50 wings and some beer. The wings were ginormous!! It was a good time with Aaron and Missy, albeit odd. I've known Missy since she was in kindergarten and all I kept thinking about was that they were probably having sex.

Aaron's employer, Murphy Bros has an exhibit at the Home and Garden Show, so he snagged us free tickets! I'm so excited! Hopefully I don't come back depressed! Lol.

I've been tagged.

This is my first time to be tagged, so here it goes!

The rules are as follows:
1. Link to the person’s blog who tagged you.

2. Post these rules on your blog.Check.

3. List seven random and/or weird facts about yourself.

I used to believe I would be a professional barrel racer, or at the very least a quarter horse arabian breeder.

If I could have more pets I would, but I'll stop at 3 cats and 1 dog.

I have an intense fear that all of my gardening and decorating will take me on the path of becoming my Mother.

In all honesty, I've never doubted marrying Tony.

On the subject of honesty, I actually hate our house and only bought it because of how Tony drew it remodeled.

I feel completely unfulfilled at work, but know that I'm too early in my career to whine about it. I'm not sure at what point it is safe to be dissatisfied though.

Some days I get depressed that my life isn't ruled by soccer any more.

4. Tag seven random people at the end of your post and include links to their blogs.

5. Let each person know that they have been tagged by posting on comment on their blog.
